  • Patent number: 7669361
Abstract: An adjustable outrigger moves a trolling pole on a fishing vessel to an elevated, outboard position for trolling and inboard to a lowered position when not in use. The outrigger of a preferred embodiment is operated using an operating handle. Rotating the operating handle in one direction rotates a pole held by the outrigger from an inboard position to the outboard, deployed position. Simultaneously with the rotation in the horizontal plane, the pole is elevated in the vertical plane from a near horizontal position to a suitable trolling angle. The operating handle turns a shaft that communicates the rotation of the handle to an internal drive mechanism, which is housed in a drive mechanism housing. The rotational motion is converted to a linear, vertical action using a ball gear mechanism. A track provided by a bayonet coupler converts the linear vertical motion into a combined vertical and rotational motion.

  • Patent number: 6978570
Abstract: An adjustable swivel base assembly and track for swivel mounting fishing boat downrigger or planar board masts, including a planar mounting base plate, a pair of stationary riser supports on the base plate, and a planar bottom bearing plate stationarily supported on the upper ends of the supports. Vertically spaced planar bottom and top bearings are stationarily affixed to the bearing plate and a planar swivel top plate is supported on and sandwiched slidably between the bearings, and is adapted to carry and swivel the mast load. An indexable locking system selectively locks the swivel plate in any one of a plurality of angularly spaced positions. A track is mounted on a fishing boat and has side edge flanges with mutually facing in-turned lips that overlap opposite side edges of the base plate when slidably and releasably mounted in the track.

  • Patent number: 6928766
Abstract: An automatic outrigger securing assembly, for use on a fishing boat which has structural support members on the vessel. The securing assembly includes a coupler for releasably securing the outrigger in a fixed position, as well as a collar assembly for interfacing with the coupler. The coupler receives and locks the collar means in a select position, and also includes a release mechanism for the collar. When the outrigger is in a laydown or collapsed configuration, the securing assembly automatically receives and safely retains the outrigger in a desired position, and can also automatically release the outrigger.

  • Patent number: 6918203
Abstract: The present invention relates to a foot operated fishing net tipping apparatus releasably attached to a fishing boat comprising: a boat-attaching portion, a net-holding portion, a lock portion, a foot pedal portion and connecting members. A conventional fishing net is therefore frictionally attached within an opening of the net-attaching portion, which rotably pivots atop the boat-attaching portion. A foot pedal is linked to the net-attaching portion as such to allow the pedal's motion to be transferred to the net-attaching portion. A fisherman can raise and lower the fishing net with one foot, thereby freeing both hands for the fishing rod.

  • Patent number: 6907326
Abstract: A system and method autonomously clears obstacles and mines from an approach lane. A ship is distantly located from an approach lane spanning a surf zone and beach portion, and the ship has operator control station software in an onboard computer. At least one system delivery vehicle having a storage bay and propulsion system transits from the ship to the approach lane in response to instructions from the operator control station. A line charge is disposed in each bay and has one end coupled to the system delivery vehicle. A line charge delivery vehicle in the bay is connected to another end of the line charge to pull the line charge from the bay and emplace it in a straight path in the approach lane in response to instructions from the operator control station. Explosives in all line charges are detonated to clear the approach lane.
