Abstract: A system and method for providing home security services may include receiving, at a local alarm controller, a cordless sensor signal indicative of an alarm sensor being triggered. The cordless sensor signal may be communicated over one of multiple cordless telephone channels. In response to receiving the sensor signal, a signal indicative of the cordless telephone channel may be communicated to a mobile telephone of a user to notify the user that a sensor associated with the cordless telephone channel was triggered.
Abstract: A system detects forced opening of a power window of a motor vehicle. An electric motor is responsive to a drive signal to provide a torque to selectably open or close the window. A regulator couples the electric motor to the window for transferring the torque into an opening or closing force on the window. A sensor is coupled to the electric motor responsive to a back voltage produced by the electric motor when an external force on the window glass opens the window glass when the drive signal is not present. A vehicle security system is coupled to the sensor for generating a perimeter alarm condition in response to detection of the back voltage by the voltage sensor.
Abstract: A method of installing a security system includes activating a security device. An air-borne identification signal is transmitted from the device in response to the activation. The identification signal identifies the activated device. The identification signal is used to ascertain a type of the device. The device is automatically wirelessly configured dependent upon the type of the device.

Abstract: A detection field selectable motion sensor that includes a modulator having a output with a shaped response to received radiation emissions forming a detection field and a sensor configured to detect the output from the modulator. The motion sensor can be configured with a set of lenses that can be aligned with the sensor. Further, the motion sensor can be an active sensor that transmits electromagnetic radiation which is detected after reflection from a detection field. Infrared radiation is the preferred source of received and transmitted radiation but microwave or visible light can be used. For an active motion detection either coherent or incoherent radiation can be used. The motion sensor includes a means for mounting and a hinge or swivel for orientating the sensor.
Abstract: The invention concerns a theft deterrent device (1), such as a tag, which is attachable to an article (3), to indicate the unauthorized removal of the article from a given area such as a retail establishment, said device comprising: at least one fluid (5)-containing member; a active staining substance (5) to be contained in said fluid-containing member; a housing (4) which encloses said fluid-containing member; means (6) for attaching the housing to the articles to be protected; means (7) for releasing the fluid from the fluid-containing member in response to unauthorised removal of the article, wherein the active staining substance in the fluid-containing member is a malodorous substance, and that said active substance subsequent to having impacted the article with the malodorous odour is capable of being neutralised by a corresponding counter substance.
Abstract: A trailer security system for a utility trailer is disclosed. The trailer security system includes a pair of side detection units and a middle detection unit provided between the side detection units which are placed in the utility trailer. Upon entry of an intruder into the utility trailer, at least one of the detection units is activated, thus scaring the intruder and alerting persons in the vicinity of the trailer to the presence of the intruder. A method of securing a utility trailer against intrusion is also disclosed.
Abstract: A security system for detecting and expelling external intrusions at individual windows is provided. The security system includes an intrusion detection transmission system (100) having a human body detection sensor (110), an infra-red sensor (120), a switching unit (130) for connecting the detection signals from the sensors (110 and 120), and a wireless transmitter (140) for encoding and wirelessly transmitting the signal transmitted from the switching unit (130), and a central processing system (200) including a wireless receiver (210) for receiving, and demodulating the wireless receiver (210) for receiving and demodulating the wireless transmission signals from the wireless transmitter (140) in the intrusion detection transmission system (100), and a home switching unit (220) for controlling operations of a home automation unit (400) and a warning siren portion (240) according to the outputting signal of the wireless receiver (210).
Abstract: An open cylinder adapted to receive a tear gas canister has a trigger mechanism that holds the canister well above the bottom of the cylinder. When the device is activated by an intruder, the operating mechanism withdraws trigger mechanism from under the cylinder, frees the cylinder to fall by gravity against an impact plate, which inturn, opens the canister value so that tear gas is discharged into the surrounding environment.
Abstract: The present invention involves a multiple protection security device which is used to prevent and/or detect burglary of articles, particularly of consumer goods and the like. In one embodiment, the present invention is a remote signal-actuating device for attachment to articles which includes a fluid-containing member which releases detection fluid in response to a predetermined force. In a second embodiment, an electronic security device includes such a fluid-containing member, and, in a third embodiment, a security device for physically restraining an article includes such a fluid-containing member. The detection fluid may be a gas, a liquid or a mixture of these and it may be a coloring agent, an odor containing fluid, a flourescent or phosphorescent dye, a radioactive material or the like.
Abstract: A security arrangement for a closed door having an elongated member connected between the door and the wall and a tautly mounted string joining the door knob and an electrical switch on the wall, the string passing over the elongated member. When an attempt is made to open the door tension on the string is increased resulting in the switch being moved into its closed position thereby energizing an alarm device.
Abstract: The disclosure is of a pilfer-proof display unit particularly useful for security of small articles such as rings and like jewelry while permitting a potential customer free access to the handling of the article.
