  • Patent number: 10830432
Abstract: To heat a furnace chamber (16) indirectly using radiant tubes (11) to (14), heating energy is transferred through the radiant tube wall into the furnace chamber (16). During steady-state operation, the temperature in the radiant tube (11) to (14) and on its surface is higher than the furnace, depending on the specific heat output of the radiant tube (11) to (14). At a furnace temperature of 770° C. and a heat output of 50 kW/m2, the radiant tube has a temperature of 900° C. The radiant tube (11) to (14) can thus operate continuously with flameless oxidation at this output, even though the temperature in the furnace is only 100° C. However, if the radiant tube (11) to (14) has cooled to the furnace temperature of 770° C. during a break in burning, deflagration is avoided when the associated burner is ignited by initially operating said burner with a flame for a few seconds.

  • Patent number: 7533633
Abstract: The invention relates to the establishing of a connection between steam generator heating surfaces made of austenitic materials and a collector and/or distributor made of martensitic or ferritic materials or of a nickel-base alloy. In order to extend the expectation of serviceable life of the connection, the pipe nipple of the reservoir used as a collector or distributor is made of a nickel-base alloy and directly welded to the collector wall in such a manner that an axial gap remains between the connecting branch and the collector wall. In a connection of the aforementioned type between steam generator heating surfaces made of austenitic materials and the pipe nipple or the pipe nipple and the collector made of martensitic materials, the coefficient of expansion of the material of the pipe nipple has a particularly good effect upon the serviceable life of the entire connection.

A boiler inlet flow connection and a boiler return flow connection are provided at a vertical distance to one another on a first longitudinal side of the housing, and each communicate with the chamber. A consumer inlet flow connection and a consumer return flow connection are provided at a vertical distance to one another on an opposite longitudinal side of the housing, each communicating with the chamber, so that a boiler side and a heating circuit side are created in the housing. A dividing element is located in the chamber between the heating circuit side and the boiler side, and an upper and lower bypass between the heating circuit side and the boiler side are formed near a top end and a bottom end, respectively, of the housing.

Productivity of the boilers is increased and maintenance costs are decreased. In the event of excess stress on the positioning assembly, the retainer assembly of the present invention allows for failure points to occur on the boiler tube position retainer assemblies rather than on the boiler tubes themselves.

Abstract: A hot beverage brewing apparatus. A pressurized hot liquid delivery system provides liquid under pressure within a range of acceptable brewing temperatures without any mechanical pump. Water is apportioned into sealable tank volumes, one of which is heated to boil the liquid and produce steam under pressure. The pressurized steam displaces the liquid from the tank volumes in proportion and at a temperature that is within the acceptable brewing range. The hot liquid under pressure is directed to a capsule receiving station to infuse a material in a capsule. The capsule dispenses the brewed beverage without contacting the brewing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7464671
Abstract: A structural framework for supporting the heat exchanger of a steam generator, the former being comprised of serpentine tubes having sloped segments to facilitate the drainage of water from the heat exchanger when the steam generator is shutdown. The structural framework includes paired groups of vertically and diagonally extending first support members contiguously straddling the sloped-tube segments. The paired first support members are rigidly connected by second support members which extend between adjacent sloped-tube segments. The structural framework preserves the spacing between the sloped-tube segments and prevents direct contact between adjoining tube surfaces, but is not attached to the straddled tube segments and, thus, provides a tube supporting fit that is loose enough to permit the tubes to move freely due to expansion and contraction at different rates from that of the structural framework.
