Patent number: 5746616Abstract: A method for electrically attaching electrode wire to a conductor in a defibrillation lead is disclosed. The method comprises melting the end of the wire with a hydrogen torch to form a ball of metal, then crimping or welding the ball to the conductor or to a joining piece attached to the conductor. Also, a hydrogen torch (water welder) may be used to join two or more electrode wires to each other.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1995Date of Patent: May 5, 1998Assignee: Pacesetter, Inc.Inventor: Craig E. Patent number: 4733021Abstract: A line tie assembly for securing an elongated line conductor to a line support insulator includes a pair of single-strand line tie components. The line tie components each have a pair of leg portions with helical preformed configurations and a generally U-shaped bight portion integrally interconnecting the leg portions. A generally flat flexible cushioning pad composed of resilient material is pivotally connected to and extends between the bight portions of the line tie components. The bight portions of the respective line tie components hook about a reduced diameter neck portion of the insulator on opposite sides thereof. The leg portions wrap about respective adjacent portions of the line conductor on opposite sides of the insulator for securing the line conductor to the insulator. The cushioning pad is placed between the conductor and a groove in the head portion of the insulator in which the conductor will be retained by the line tie assembly.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1986Date of Patent: March 22, 1988Assignee: Helical Line Products CompanyInventor: James A. Patent number: 4621167Abstract: A fibre optic lightweight submarine cable (2) is terminated to a tail cable (4) and anchored to a repeater housing (9) with preformed high-tensile steel anchor wires (1,3). The wires are clamped at one end (10) between a collar (7) and frusto-conical clamping segments (11) and strapped at the other end with binders (14). Over the tail cable portion is a spring (6) located on ferrules (6A, 7A) and acting to prevent the anchor wires crushing the tail cable (4).Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1985Date of Patent: November 4, 1986Assignee: Standard Telephones and Cables Public Limited CompanyInventor: Ronald C. Patent number: 4620059Abstract: A device for suppressing wind induced motions in aerial cables and a method of installing the same. The device comprises a cylindrical rod of substantial length having a generally straight center section terminating in helically configured cable gripping sections. Adjacent one end is a non-gripping support helix. The support helix functions to provide support to one end of the device while the device is slid to a position on the cable where the helically configured gripping section at the opposite end can be wrapped to the aerial cable.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1985Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Assignee: Preformed Line Products CompanyInventor: Thomas E. Patent number: 4421161Abstract: The present disclosure describes a heat exchange device for attachment to the external surface of a package containing an integrated circuit chip or die. The device has particular application in high density electronic packaging configurations, where space limitations severely curtail the volume which can be occupied thereby. The structure of the present device is such that both the effective cooling area per given volume and the heat transfer coefficient are maximized. Basically, the device is an integral structure comprised of a generally helical wire form affixed to a metallic frame-like member. The wire form provides a plurality of parallel closely spaced-apart cylindrical sections capable of being disposed in an air stream for dissipating the heat generated in the integrated circuit package to which the device is attached.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1982Date of Patent: December 20, 1983Assignee: Burroughs CorporationInventors: Samuel R. Romania, Grant M. Smith

Patent number: 4228316Abstract: A device for securing and anchoring a telephone wire comprises a narrow helix with widely spaced coils with an open bight at one end. The invention further comprises a telephone pole with an internal fixing element such as a ring with the device securing a wire looped onto it.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1978Date of Patent: October 14, 1980Assignee: The Post OfficeInventor: John H. Patent number: 4015073Abstract: A low cost, lightweight, helically preformed line tie is disclosed which is configured for yieldably securing an elongated conductor or the like to various standard sizes of conventional, grooved insulative supports without the need for specialized ties by provision of a unitary, substantially shape-retaining resilient metallic wire tie which includes a central, generally U-shaped, line-receiving bight and a pair of legs extending therefrom which have intermediate sections adjacent the bight and helically formed line-gripping terminal sections; in preferred forms, the intermediate sections include a pair of interconnected, generally straight segments disposed at an angle relative to each other, and the intermediate sections are wrapped under tension about the support body with the helical leg sections secured about the line for yieldably securing the latter to the support without creation of localized, rigidly held stress areas at the line support points which can lead to premature line failure by virtue of bType: GrantFiled: January 2, 1976Date of Patent: March 29, 1977Assignee: A. Patent number: 3947623Abstract: An appliance for linear bodies having a generally planar spacing member and a pair of helically preformed attachment elements which are positioned centrally of the spacing member and extend outwardly therefrom in a direction substantially normal to the plane thereof. The attaching elements engage a single linear conductor and the spacing member maintains adjacent conductors in spaced relation thereto.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1975Date of Patent: March 30, 1976Assignee: Preformed Line Products Co.Inventor: Harrison L.
