Patent number: 5195810Abstract: An anti-lock hydraulic brake system is described having a bypass line to a pump used to evacuate and pressurize the wheel brakes during antilock control. A pressure control valve in the bypass line regulates the pressure in the pressure line to the master cylinder pressure level. A low pressure accumulator absorbs recirculated fluid flow from the bypass line. A pressure operated valve opens only when a difference in pressure between the master cylinder pressure and the pump outlet pressure line pressure develops. The consequence is that a non-return valve a and pressure operated valve in combination bring about isolation of the master cylinder during antilock control to prevent brake pedal reaction to pump pressure developed during a braking pressure control operation. When the accumulator is fully charged, the bypass line is closed by means of a shut-off valve operated by an accumulator piston so that the pump delivers fluid via the pressure valve (18) back into the master cylinder (1).Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1992Date of Patent: March 23, 1993Assignee: Alfred Teves GmbHInventors: Norbert Ocvirk, Lutz Weise, James Remfrey

Patent number: 5156448Abstract: A hydraulic brake system with an anti-skid system (ABS) and traction control (ASR) for motor vehicles having a hydraulic unit with at least one control valve and a return pump with at least one pump element embodied as self-aspirating, which element is operative in the brake circuit containing the at least one driven wheel. To furnish brake pressure during traction control, a valve assembly is provided. For the sake of simplicity in the embodiment of this valve unit, it has not only a charge valve disposed in an intake line between the pump element and the brake fluid tank but also a reversing valve, incorporated between the master brake cylinder and the control valve and having three hydraulic control inlets and a restoring spring, of which one control inlet communicate with the outlet of the pump element, and the two control inlets counteracting this control element communicate with the valve inlet and outlet, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1991Date of Patent: October 20, 1992Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Lothar Kirstein

Patent number: 5156447Abstract: An apparatus having a self-aspirating pump, with which, in a traction control mode, pressure fluid can be aspirated through an intake line from a pressure fluid supply tank of a master brake cylinder. Located in the intake line is a control valve that assumes its preferred blocking positoin and can then be switched into its open position by a pressure pulse generated by the pump, through a control line. This open position can be switched whenever a control valve, located in the brake line of the master brake cylinder, is switched by an electronic control unit of the control apparatus out of its preferred position thereby connecting the master brake cylinder to the wheel brake cylinders into another position, thereby carrying pump pressure to the control valve. Aspiration of pressure fluid from the supply tank is thus avoided upon pump startup with undesirable feeding. This prevents the production of noise from the pumping of pressure fluids into the master brake cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1991Date of Patent: October 20, 1992Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Rolf Hummel, Michael Klose, Klaus Mueller

Patent number: 5143428Abstract: An anti-lock brake system is arranged such that the recirculation line from the overflow reservoir feeds into one of the brake lines downstream of the lines dividing point. A constriction, which may take the form of a simple nozzle is positioned between the recirculation line junction and the brake line dividing point for reducing the coupling of pressure fluctuations between the brake lines when the anti-lock system is actuated. With this arrangement, even upon the occurrence of sharp pressure fluctuations in one of the brake lines due to actuation of the anti-lock function, the pressure of the other brake line is not affected thereby allowing proper controlled braking in each wheel.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1990Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Assignee: Aisin Seiki K.K.Inventors: Hiroshi Toda, Hideyasu Miyata, Hiroaki Takeuchi, Nobuyasu Nakanishi, Koichi Kondo

Patent number: 5135292Abstract: Single drive slip control system for starter aid in which a slipping wheel is made to slow down to a speed approaching that of the other wheel. The brake line between the master cylinder and the wheel cylinder of each driven wheel is interrupted by a valve arrangement with an electrovalve, and further by a pressure generator downstream of the valve arrangement. When an evaluation circuit senses slippage of a driven wheel, the electrovalve is closed and the pressure downstream is increased. When pressure is produced by the master cylinder, the electrovalve is reopened. To ensure that the valve reopens, the valve arrangement includes a pressure controlled valve which is opened by a pressure build-up in a control chamber connected to the master cylinder through a check valve. A throttle valve in parallel with the check valve permits pressure reduction in the control chamber after braking.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1990Date of Patent: August 4, 1992Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Michael Friedow

Patent number: 5096269Abstract: An antilock brake system comprises a valve (20) in the flow path of the hydraulic fluid between a master cylinder (10) and a brake cylinder (18). To obtain on braking without antilock control a rapid pressure buildup in the brake cylinder (18) and a throttled pressure buildup when braking with antilock control, a valve (20) is provided in the hydraulic connecting conduit (14, 14', 14") between the master and brake cylinders and comprises a floating piston (50) which is subjected on the one side to the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the master cylinder (10) and on its other side to the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the brake cylinder (18). The floating piston (50) controls the valve in such a manner that when the pressure in the master cylinder (10) is greater by a predetermined amount than the pressure in the brake cylinder (18) only a throttled flow through the valve (20) is possible.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1990Date of Patent: March 17, 1992Assignee: Lucas Industries public limited companyInventor: Josef Pickenhahn
