Container Patents (Class 33/522)
  • Patent number: 11758020
Abstract: Implementations selectively message member account data to client applications to reduce server load. When a monitored load on cloud servers meets a criteria, a hold status may be triggered. During the hold status, member accounts may be monitored and client applications may be transmitted push messages, for example when a change is detected in a member's monitored account. The push messages can contain the detected changes, such as a posted transaction that triggered the message. Implementations of the client application can be configured to display local data (stored from the push messages) during the hold status in response to a member's request to access/view their account. Because server to client communication is limited to messages that contain member account changes, an overall server load can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7010863
Abstract: Apparatus for inspecting lean of a container includes a light source positioned beneath a container for directing light energy onto the container bottom as the container is held in position and rotated around an axis. A light sensor positioned beneath the container receives portions of the light energy from the source reflected from the container bottom. An information processor is coupled to the light sensor for determining, as a combined function of the reflected light energy and container rotation, departure of the container bottom from a plane perpendicular to the axis. The container preferably is held in position and rotated around an axis by a drive roller that urges the container against axially spaced backup rollers so as to define an average axis of rotation as a function of the geometry of the container and spacing between the backup rollers.

  • Patent number: 6966121
Abstract: A plurality of two-dimensional template-shaped gauges to quickly determine the amount of liquor poured from a corresponding bottle. Since each style of gauge fits a complementary bottle style, the ounce, shot or metric vertical markings on the gauge can be spaced to reflect the change in bottle cross-section. A bartender or server can quickly, literally at a glance, determine the amount remaining in the bottle. The result is a more accurate pour and better control over the sales of expensive liquor and similar beverages. The new gauges are reusable an indefinite number of times depending on the plastic or other material from which they are constructed. Moreover, the new gauges are ideal for displaying brand names and logos. The template shapes may be formed on both side edges of each gauge, therefore each gauge can be used with two bottles of differing shape.

  • Patent number: 6871415
Abstract: A plug gauge for testing the mouth of a container includes a spring carried by a support, a rod having one end coupled to the spring, and a gauge plug coupled to the other end of the rod. A control mechanism supports the rod and is coupled to an electric motor. Motion of the control mechanism by the motor lowers the rod and plug into the container mouth under force of the spring, and thereafter lifts the rod and plug out of the container mouth. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the spring takes the form of an air spring. A stripper is operatively coupled to the control mechanism in the preferred embodiment of the invention for lowering against the container mouth, as the rod and plug are lowered by the spring and the motor, for holding the container mouth as the rod and plug are lifted from the container mouth.

Abstract: An apparatus for measuring sidewall thickness of a container includes a support coupled to a first motor for holding the container in stationary position while rotating the container about its axis. A gauge mechanism engages opposed interior and exterior points on the sidewall of the container, and provides an electrical signal as a function of sidewall thickness between such points. A second motor is coupled to the gauge mechanism for moving the gauge mechanism in the direction of the container axis. A controller is coupled to the first and second motors, and is responsive to the electrical signal from the gauge mechanism for obtaining and storing a three-dimensional data map of sidewall thickness at increments of motion of both the first and second motors. • Patent number: 5929349
Abstract: The invention comprises a tool which can be inserted through the fill nozzle of an underground fuel storage tank to measure the tank wall thickness. The invention, in a preferred embodiment, uses ultrasonic thickness measurement technology, a well known inspection technique. A special type of ultrasonic probe known as a ZIP (Zero Interface Probe) is required to measure the thickness of fiberglass. A thickness measurement is accomplished by pressing the tool transducers firmly against the inside surface of the fiberglass tank after applying a couplant gel to the surface of the transducers. The tool is connected to an ultrasonic flaw detector, which generates a transmitted pulse and displays the transmitted and reflected pulses on a display screen. The thickness is determined by measuring the time-of-flight (on the display screen) between appropriate pulses.

Abstract: A system and method for contact measurement of dimensional parameters of a container in which rollers coupled to LVDT sensors are placed in contact with a container as the container is rotated about its central axis so that the sensors develop analog signals that vary as a function of variations in geometry of the container. The sensor output signals are fed through multiple input channels to an a/d convertor/multiplexer, which is controlled by a central microcontroller for selecting in turn among the plurality of sensor signals. Within the microcontroller, each sensor signal is compared to a threshold indicative of maximum acceptable deviation of the corresponding dimensional parameter, and the container under test is rejected if the parameter exceeds such threshold.
