Openly Spaced Slat-type Lath Patents (Class 52/342)
  • Patent number: 11492802
Abstract: A partition wall has a structure with a wall end portion butted against another building structure and exposed to architectural spaces. An end post at the end portion of the wall is constituted from first and second end post elements, which are spaced apart from each other, so that a gap or an isolation zone interrupting a propagation of a solid vibration or insulating a path for propagating the solid vibration is formed between the first and second elements. An interior finishing panel for defining the architectural space on one side of the wall is fixed to the first element and the interior finishing panel for defining the architectural space on an opposite side of the wall is fixed to the second element.

  • Patent number: 9145688
Abstract: A structural reinforcement system that utilizes a lath for receiving cementitious material. Lath is affixed to support structure such as sheathing supported by studs as may commonly be found in building construction. Strip members are affixed to the lath and function as fastener guides. Fasteners penetrate the strips for affixing lath and strips to the support structure. The strips are made of a compressible material that protects the lath from damage due to impacts associated with installing the fasteners and forms a gasket-like seal around the fasteners. Strips may be used as drainage guides for directing water that may flow behind the lath. The width of the strips creates spacing between the lath and the support structure, which allows for controlling of a thickness of a base layer of cementitious material by selecting a desired width. In another embodiment, entangled filaments are used as lath material for receiving cementitious material.

  • Patent number: 9016018
Abstract: A support for installing facing materials such as ceramic tiles on a substrate such as floors, walls and ceilings wherein the support plate has a plurality of spaced apart recesses in the plate material, with the recesses being open at the top surface and have solid sidewalls and a base, and a plurality of slots in the non-recessed portions of the plate material extending through the top surface and bottom surface, the slots joining one or more adjacent recesses. The support plate of the invention is used for tile installations between the substrate and such tile. Thin-set mortar that is used to secure the tile to the support plate flows into the recesses and into the slots forming a continuous bond between the mortar and the adjacent slots providing for a strong bond between the support plate, mortar and the tiles.

  • Patent number: 6305135
Abstract: Provided is a composite building material which is more improved in the bonding capability of a cement mortar material itself with a foamed synthetic resin plate layer, furthermore prevents the occurrences of exfoliations and cracks and has higher strength compared with conventional composite materials. Plural concave grooves are formed in parallel on at least one of the surface and backface of a foamed synthetic resin plate layer and a net-like groove lathing material corresponding to the size of each groove is arranged within each groove. A cement mortar material is filled in the groove so as to bury the groove lathing material, a net-like surface lathing material is then stretched over all of one surface and a cement mortar material is further laminated to form a composite building material in which the foamed synthetic resin plate layer and the cement mortar layer are integrated with each other.

Each panel unit formed ou of on or more panel elements and a rail extending across the panel elements. The rail is formed out of a lower section and an upper section that are offset from each other such that at one end of the unit the lower section forms a tongue sticking out, and at the opposite end, the upper section, in combination with the panel element, forms a slot dimensioned to receive the tongue. The ends of the rail are complementary and nonlinear such that they fit together. The panel units of this invention are installed in place. The rail of a first panel locks in place with the rail and panel element of the adjacent panel. The edges of the adjacent panels are thus restricted from movement so as to limit the individual free movement of separate panels.

  • Patent number: 4734337
Abstract: A sheet of expanded metal lath has expanded longitudinal edge margins between which the metal sheet is selectively expanded transversely of the sheet length to define plural parallel rows of trapezoidal openings having long sides of about one inch and widths perpendicular to the long sides of about 7/32 inch. Between the selected rows of the openings, the sheet defines corresponding ones of plural rib constructions, each of which has a generally "Z" transverse cross-sectional configuration having substantially parallel non-coplaner and non-overlapping rib edge portions interconnected by a rib central portion disposed oblique to the rib edge portions. Where the unexpended thickness of the sheet is substantially 0.015 inch, the expanded metal sheet has a weight of substantially 1.8 pounds per square yard. The article has about 70% "openness", yet has adequate resistance to bending about lines across its width due to the configuration of the ribs and the sheet edge margins.
