Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for pre-fetching place page data from a remote mapping system for display on a client computing device is disclosed. User preference data collected from various data sources including applications executing on the client device, online or local user profiles, and other sources may be analyzed to generate a request for place page data from the remote mapping system. The user preference data may indicate a map feature such as a place of business, park, or historic landmark having the characteristics of both a user's preferred geographic location and the user's personal interests. For example, where the user indicates a geographic preference for “Boston” and a personal interest for “home brewing” the system and method may request place page data for all home brewing or craft beer-related map features near Boston.

Abstract: A handlebars locking apparatus for locking and unlocking of the handlebars on the basis of a code collation is provided. A collation ECU releases a restriction of a rotor latched by a latch by driving a solenoid if an ignition switch is turned OFF while a lock pin is retracted. After releasing the restriction, rotation of the rotor is restricted by the latch and a code collation with a code stored in a portable key is carried out if a lock pin is in a protrusion state after the release of the restriction and the protrusion state is detected by a lock side switch. If the code collation is correctly carried out, the protrusion of the lock pin is maintained to lock the handlebars. The closing device is comprised of a door plate having two door plate areas, whereby a first longitudinally extended door plate area has a turning handle for operating and a drift pinion which is rotationally mounted. The second door plate area has a push plate which is mounted in a slidable manner. The push plate interacts with the drift pinion and the catching system via a catch. The catch reaches through one of the slots in the door covered by the second door plate area.

  • Patent number: 6240751
Abstract: An operator for a latch system. The operator has a main body, a control unit, and a retainer. The control unit has at least a portion that is selectively repositionable relative to the main body by a user with the control unit in an operative position on the main body to change the state of a latch system with which the operator is associated. A retainer is placeable in an assembled position on the main body wherein the retainer maintains the control unit in the operative position. The main body has a first shoulder, with the retainer element having a second shoulder. The first and second shoulders face and abut each other with the retainer in the assembled position to prevent the retainer from being moved out of the assembled position such that the control unit could be moved out of the operative position.

Abstract: The position of a Wireless Transceiver (WT) is estimated using the Time Of Arrival (TOA) at several Monitoring Sites (MS) of the signal transmitted by the WT. Several sites are used to solve for the coordinates of the WT using hyperbolic trilateration. A time reference is used to synchronize the Monitoring Sites (MS). Super-Resolution (SR) techniques are applied to increase the resolution of the TOA estimate obtained via correlation of the received signal at each MS. SR techniques can improve the TOA resolution substantially.

Abstract: A personal calendaring system includes a portable calendaring system and a complementary office calendar system, each synchronizing calendar entries by two-way wireless transmission. The portable calendaring system includes a GPS receiver interface providing location data. The office calendar system and the portable calendar system each includes a calendar memory storing calendar entries, a wireless paging interface for exchanging schedule change requests and location data, a traffic receiver interface receiving wireless traffic data from an external source, and a perceptual software agent that automatically updates stored calendar entries in response to detected events. The perceptual agents of the respective portable and office systems communicate using the two-way wireless paging interfaces to ensure the stored schedules are synchronized, and to minimize conflicts between schedule change requests entered at respective locations.

Abstract: A rotary valve with a latching/locking operating handle assembly includes a valve body carrying a rotary valve element having an outwardly extending valve stem. A main handle body is joined to the stem and provides guide grooves for cooperating first and second operating members connected by a cam assembly such that selective horizontal movement of the first operating member produces vertical movement of the second operating member. A latch pin carried by the second member is thereby caused to move between engaged and disengaged positions with the valve body.

  • Patent number: 4901545
Abstract: An electromechanical locking device completely contained within a doorknob which can be a part of a usual lockset or retrofitted on an existing lockset which requires entry of an access code or entry of both an access code and use of a mechanical key for operating the lock. The code is entered on a keypad exposed on the knob and supplies a signal to a computer powered by batteries. A correct match of the input code to a code stored in the computer will actuate a motor operated cam to release a mechanical interlocking pin enabling the lock cylinder to be rotated to the unlocked position. Both visual and audible signals may be provided in the doorknob as to the power level of the batteries and ready condition of the lock. The mechanical interlock pin is disengaged automatically from the lock cylinder upon the power level of the batteries dropping to a predetermined level requiring only mechanical key operation of the lock.
