Abstract: There is disclosed a human Corpuscles of Stannius, stanniocalcin polypeptide and DNA(RNA) encoding such polypeptide. There is also provided a procedure for producing such polypeptide by recombinant techniques and for producing antibodies and antagonist/inhibitors against such polypeptide. Another aspect of the invention provides a combination of the polypeptide of the present invention and a suitable pharmaceutical carrier for providing therapeutic treatment of disease or the inhibition of such polypeptide for therapeutic treatment of disease.
