Patent number: 6805792Abstract: A device for switching between two inlet ports in a skimmer submerged in a body of water so that the latter can be cleaned (filtered) from two different areas. A conventional skimmer has first housing with a filter basket mounted therein and a second housing mounted within the first housing below a cover assembly centrally mounted within the first housing. A vertically movable piston assembly movable within the second housing and with an upright elongated tubular shaft that slides through a shaft opening in the cover activates a valve when the piston approaches its uppermost position closing one of the two inlet ports in the cover. The speed at which the piston assembly moves upwardly to close the first inlet is regulated with a restricting valve at the upper end of the tubular shaft. The result being to change the active inlet ports allowing the cleaning of the body of water from two inlet locations.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2004Date of Patent: October 19, 2004Inventor: Abelardo Caraballo

Patent number: 6770983Abstract: An apparatus and method for delivering power from a D.C. voltage source to one or more D.C. loads rated at lower voltages. The invention provides for the repetitive application of the higher D.C. voltage to the loads for a predetermined time period sufficient for the load to operate yet not too long to ensure that the load will not be damaged. To implement the invention, a clock signal provides the time reference for separate slots allocated for the time periods associated with each of the loads. A user selectively enables or interrupts the repetitive connection to each of one of the loads. The rate of repetition of the connection of the high voltage source could vary from 60 to 200 Hertz, preferably without degrading the operation of typical loads.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2001Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Assignee: Fabtech, Inc.Inventors: Michael Cummins, Mario Magrone

Patent number: 6725752Abstract: A machine for processing envelopes includes a receiving assembly with a tray where envelopes are received and guided towards an envelope cutting assembly. A sensor determines the width of the envelope to align on of the two longitudinal cutting members. Another sensor detects the leading and railing edge of the envelope and with a circuit control the advancement of the envelope to cooperative positions that permit another cutter member to act transversally. The envelope is then passed to an unfolding assembly where the uppermost and lowermost sheets are loose and sandwich inbetween the contents. The uppermost sheet is pulled out to the display assembly that is hermetically closed. Subsequently, a transversally moving roller is used to lift the folds of the content, if any, and to affix the unfolded contents to protruding pins. The engagement with the protruding pins is slowly undone as the contents are pushed towards the display assembly.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2002Date of Patent: April 27, 2004Assignee: Catawa, Inc.Inventor: Eduardo S. Torrazza

Patent number: 6698558Abstract: A brake system for garage doors including a piston assembly movable within a longitudinal housing assembly and including a central through opening and a threaded bushing rigidly mounted to the piston assembly. A threaded axle is cooperatively received by the threaded bushing so that the rotation of the axle causes the piston assembly to move at a predetermined speed longitudinally within the housing assembly. Longitudinal connecting apertures permit the flow of fluid adjacent to the ends of the piston assembly to flow through. A flapper valve assembly is mounted to one of the ends of the piston assembly by a separating spring member. When the movement of the piston assembly exceeds a predetermined magnitude, the spring member is compressed eliminating the clearance and closing the connecting apertures. This prevents any additional flow and rotational movement of the threaded axle, which in turn is mechanically connected to the counterbalance axle of an opening and closing mechanism for garage doors.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2002Date of Patent: March 2, 2004Inventor: Abelardo Caraballo
