  • Patent number: 6513670
Abstract: Cargo containers are shipped to sites that have been subjected to severe damage. The containers, which may be stacked, contain food or other emergency goods. The containers have ramps at one or more sides to permit quick ingress and egress of the material. At the damage site the containers have knock outs removed and replaced by doors, windows and the like. In this manner the containers become dwellings suitable on an emergency basis as house, hospitals, mess halls, or other suitable dwellings.

  • Patent number: 6398496
Abstract: Helicopter blades each have a piston connected to it. The pistons are movable within a cylinder between innermost and outermost positions. The hydraulic fluid of each cylinder is connected to other cylinders by a hydraulic tube or through a manifold. A drive bar moving synchronously with the blades is connects to the cylinders. As the helicopter moves in flight the force of the wind against a blade causes a piston to move inwardly. This causes fluid to be expelled from the cylinder into the another cylinder by way of the hydraulic tube causing other piston to be moved outwardly. Meanwhile the other piston, because it is moving with the wind, is exerting an opposite effect on the other piston. The result is a tendency for the blades to approach an equilibrium condition with respect to the wind forces to minimize the shocks to the overall system.

  • Patent number: 6244007
Abstract: A roof has a series of panels are positioned along roof joists such that there are upper and power panels to provide a series of air paths between the upper and associated lower panel. The upper panels are shorter in length than the lower panels so that a portion of the lower panel is exposed to create an opening for air to exit. The combination of the air paths and the exposed panels permits the free flow of air from the bottom to the top of the roof which allows cooling as well as rain water to flow along the lower panels.

  • Patent number: 6088988
Abstract: A top chord profile of a roof truss chord has inwardly depending ends at the mouth area of the chord and trapezoidal flanges resulting in stronger chords. The chord profiles can be connected to each other at mitered ends using a connecting plate at a ridge in a manner that allows absorption of the compressive forces at the ridge.

  • Patent number: 6042117
Abstract: A game board has playing pieces. In the form of indicators which are permanently attached to a game board base. A push button approach that simulates the play of well known games is used to effectively move pieces around a game board. The indicators are push buttons that can occupy either of two positions. In the up position the indicator could represent the presence of a piece or player, or that a particular location or region is occupied. The number of push buttons use will depend on the game and its rules. There could be one, two or four push buttons for each region. One push button could simulate the golf tees of a peg board game. Two buttons could be used to simulate a tic-tac-toe game, while four push buttons could simulate a checkers type game. The permanence of the indicators means that pieces cannot be lost.

  • Patent number: 5850968
Abstract: An air conditioning system with temperature and relative humidity sensors connected to a computerized control system. The control system acts on preselected stored data to turn on the air conditioning system to maintain the environment within a selected comfort zone. Air flow through finless coils and a preset damper enter a constant speed blower to an air duct. The air in the ducts remains over the dew point. In an alternative arrangement a coil with fins as well as a coil without fins is used.

  • Patent number: 5839848
Abstract: Metal members are joined to each other by the use of depending collars and through holes. A tool head inserted through the collars and holes and the tool shoulder exert pressure to simultaneously bend and crimp the collar. This technique can also be applied to truss members or to tracks and studs so that the members are easily joined or attached to each other. Beveled ends facilitate the alignment of collars with the holes.

  • Patent number: 5761839
Abstract: An advertising device or sign that has a plastic frame having a front that contains advertising. The advertisement is on a plastic laminate with holes around its periphery that engage pins on the back of the frame. The back further has receptacles that engage a holder that forms an optional pocket. The optional pocket contains items that can be handed out or mailed. The frames can be joined together to form a larger display than can be accommodated on a single frame.

  • Patent number: 5752355
Abstract: Sheet metal multiple stepped tile panels are joined to similar roof panels in interlocking relationship. On one edge running the length of the panel is a single female groove while the opposite edge of the panel has a plurality of male members which can engage the single groove of a similarly shaped panel. The stepped panel is quite long compared to its width. Hidden screws in a securing flange join the panel to a roof.
