Abstract: A harness for the alleviation of back strain has members passing over the shoulders and around the thoraric region with attachments to a pivotable tension equalizing plate whereby the lumbar or lower back region is supported and a balance between the anterior and posterior muscle groups is attained.
Abstract: A paint roller cleaner consists of a tubular body holding a paint roller covered, with a traversing nozzle spraying a liquid whereby the roller is cleaned after use.
Abstract: A lengthwise graphitization furnace for the conversion of a string of amorphous carbon bodies to graphite has an open semi-cylindrical shell of corrugated steel modules lined with cast refractory. The combination of the corrugated shell and cast refractory liner contributes to faster heat transfer by both convection and radiation, and to greater mechanical and thermal stability. The furnace is designed in modules allowing for easy replacement of worn components.

Abstract: A porous graphite electrode for a fuel cell is formed by impregnation of a cellulosic filter paper by coating or impregnating with a low coke yield impregnant on the active center area and with a high coke yield impregnant on the edges, followed by curing, baking, and graphitizing the electrode to form a monolithic porous graphite electrode base with a dense low porosity area at the edges with a less dense higher porosity center working area.

Abstract: Composition for preparing a polymer concrete, a method of protecting or reconditioning surfaces by treatment with the composition, the protected or reconditioned surfaces thus-treated, and multi-package systems for bringing the components of the composition to an application site, wherein the composition comprises a substantially non-aqueous slurry of (1) an aggregate material and (2) a monomer binder system effective to bind the aggregate, upon curing, into a polymer concrete, the binder system comprising (a) a liquid comonomer component, (b) a solid, thermoplastic macromonomer component dissolved in the comonomer and comprising a linear polymer terminated at one or both ends with a polymerizable end group, and (c) a polymerization catalyst.
Abstract: The rheological characteristics of aqueous well drilling fluids are improved by incorporating into the fluids small amounts of sulfonated styrene-maleimide copolymers and at least one water-soluble polymer prepared from acrylic acid or acrylate or their derivatives.
Abstract: Novel polyurea/polyurethane two-component adhesive compositions are disclosed which comprise the reaction product of (a) a blend of an amine terminated polybutadiene and a polyhydroxybutadiene with (b) an aliphatic or aromatic di- or polyisocyanate and optionally chain extenders, tackifiers, coupling agents fillers and curingly effective amounts of catalyst.

Abstract: Apparatus for the dispersed gas flotation and separation of insoluble, dispersed contaminants from a liquid comprised of a horizontal series of flotation cells, separated by baffles that permit the substantially horizontal flow of liquid from one cell to the next, each cell being equipped with one or more gas dispersing nozzles and screens which aid in the coalescence and flotation of the contaminant particles, and an inclined baffle above the horizontal series of cells to urge the floated impurities toward a weir positioned to remove the impurities from the surface of the liquid.
Abstract: A manufacturing process for providing an extruded polyvinyl chloride exterior siding with a weatherable layer of polyvinyl fluoride is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, the process facilitates the production of dimensionally stable dark colored siding.
Abstract: Blends of formaldehyde-based aminoplast resins and water-soluble amines are employed in the purifications of aqueous liquids which contain suspended matter.

Abstract: The corrosive effects of liquid nitrogen-based fertilizer compositions on metal surfaces is reduced by adding to the fertilizer compositions small amounts of amine oxides.
Abstract: Radiation-curable low molecular weight partial ester copolymer compositions comprising products of a terminally ethylenically unsaturated compound and a maleic anhydride characterized by having free-anhydride functionality are provided. The partial esters are produced by esterification of certain copolymers with a hydroxyalkyl acrylyl compound, or an admixture thereof with a monohydric alcohol. The compositions of the invention are useful as radiation cross-linkable diluents for radiation-hardenable compositions, particularly in improving adhesion promotion and/or dispersive capabilities of binder resins.
