Abstract: Control circuitry is configured to control a sampler, in a sampling phase determination process, to sample a signal at a sampling period of T±T/n for outputting a sample set for each one of n phases of the sampled signal. Each one of n correlators has a first input configured to receive one of the sample sets, a second input configured to receive a PN signal, and an output which provides a correlation result from a correlation process between the sample set and the PN signal. The control circuitry is further configured to identify, from the correlation results, one of the phases associated with the optimal correlation result. The control circuitry is then configured to control the sampler, in a communication mode, to sample a received signal at a sampling period of T at the phase associated with the optimal correlation result.
Abstract: The invention provides electrochemically-based methods and devices for producing fluid flow and/or changes in fluid pressure. In the methods and devices of the invention, current is passed through a divided electrochemical cell. Adjacent compartments of the cell are divided by a separator which comprises an ionically conducting separator. Each compartment includes an electrode and an electrolyte solution or ionic liquid. The electrolyte solution(s) or ionic liquid(s) and the ionically conducting separator are selected to obtain the desired relationship between the current through the cell and the fluid flowrate and/or change in fluid pressure.

Abstract: A method for sending an uplink order to active set base stations is disclosed. A new mode of operation for a wireless communication device is determined. A transmission is sent on an uplink control channel to active set base stations that indicates the new mode. The transmission from the wireless communication device is received on the E-DPCCH. It is determined if the transmission is an uplink order. The new mode of operation is transitioned to. Subsequent transmissions from the wireless communication device are interpreted using the new mode of operation if the transmission is an uplink order.
Abstract: A conveyor with juxtaposed blocks moves along a path of travel, certain of the blocks have recesses which receive second joints of the wings of poultry. The second joints are arranged sidewise to the path of travel of the conveyor, in the recesses and are successively passed beneath a support frame where a hold down plate and knife is reciprocated as the support frame is towed by the conveyor to cut the flesh and skin between the ulna and radius bones and one or both cartilages, which join the ends of the bones. When cutting a cartilage, the bones are urged apart as the cut is made.
Abstract: This invention relates to a single wheel robot system and its control method. The robot is an intelligent self-control and thus self-balancing unicycle riding robot. The control method is the balance control method of the static imbalance unicycle robot. The single wheel robot includes mechanical body and control system; the body contains a single wheel in the substructure which can rotate around for balance; the control system comprises state sensors, motion controller, servo-driven controllers, and a power system. Among them, the motion controller receive signals from the state sensors, in accordance with control procedures for processing of the received signal, thereby issuing control instructions. The servo drive controller receives the control instructions and controls the motors of the robot to adjust posture to be balanced.
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for transmitting emergency warning messages over cellular networks. In the proposed method, the access point transmits scheduling information of the emergency information in addition to the non-emergency information in a first system information block (SIB1) to a plurality of user equipments. In case of an emergency, the access point notifies the user equipments of the emergency situation and transmits emergency information to the user equipments to provide more information about the emergency situation. Since the user equipments already have scheduling information of the emergency information, they can start receiving the emergency information immediately after the emergency notification.
Abstract: A portable digital media player and method for providing convenient music discovery are presented. Music is maintained and includes a multiplicity of music stored in digital media form on a portable digital media player. A music recommendation is displayed to a recipient. A message included is processed for information to describe the music recommended, to identify the recommender, to capture a context of the recommendation, and to specify a rating for the music recommended. At least part of the information is integrated into a display of the music on the portable digital media player. The information is displayed to the recipient as integrated. Action upon the music recommended is facilitated through one or more of playback and addition of the music to the music on the portable digital media player through an external source.
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and systems are provided to generate from a set of training documents a set of training data and a set of features for a taxonomy of categories. In this generated taxonomy the degree of feature overlap among categories is minimized in order to optimize use with a machine-based categorizer. However, the categories still make sense to a human because a human makes the decisions regarding category definitions. In an example embodiment, for each category, a plurality of training documents selected using Web search engines is generated, the documents winnowed to produce a more refined set of training documents, and a set of features highly differentiating for that category within a set of categories (a supercategory) extracted. This set of training documents or differentiating features is used as input to a categorizer, which determines for a plurality of test documents the plurality of categories to which they best belong.

Abstract: A display unit is provided in an agricultural working vehicle to display at least one operating parameter of the working vehicle, so that it is possible to change the operating parameter as a function of one or more setting parameters of the working vehicle. The display unit is designed to display a change in the operating parameter resulting from a change made to at least one of the setting parameters.
Abstract: The regionally coated noble metal element used in glass production has an uncoated region for contacting a glass melt and an H2-impervious layer or an H2-impervious and O2-impervious layer on a side opposite from the uncoated region, which has a layer thickness ?1 mm, is heat-resistant, and is either liquid or solid. This layer is made from at least one glass or glass mixture, an at least partly crystallized glass or a ceramic material. The coated noble metal element can be a Danner channel, a Vello draw head, an A-draw head, a Vello needle, a drawdown needle, a discharge ring or a Danner blowpipe. A process for coating a noble metal element to produce the regionally coated noble metal element is also described.

Abstract: A memory device is described, including a substrate, data storage structures over the substrate, control gates over the data storage structures, and a dielectric layer between the data storage structures and the control gates, wherein each data storage structure includes a lower part and an upper part narrower than the lower part. A process for fabricating the memory device is also described, wherein formation of the data storage structures includes recessing portions of a data storage layer to form respective upper parts of the data storage structures and then dividing the recessed portions of the data storage layer to form respective lower parts of the data storage structures.
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for replicating transactions at a source database node on a target database node of the data processing system. A transaction message, for a transaction, is stored in a receive queue data structure of the target database node. An agent thread applies a change to data of the target database node based on a specification of the change in the transaction message. An identifier of the transaction message is stored in a done message data structure of the target database node and the identifier of the transaction message is also stored in a prune queue data structure of the target database node. A prune thread determines if a contiguous range of identifiers of transaction messages equal to or greater than a predetermined batch size is present in the prune queue data structure. If so, then a range of transaction messages is deleted from the done message data structure.
