Abstract: Aqueous herbicidal compositions containing urea and methods of preparations thereof. These compositions are characterized by increased resistance to precipitation of the toxicant at temperatures at or below the freezing point of water. When these solutions are returned to room temperature after being partially or completely frozen, stability of components is maintained.
Abstract: Aqueous-soluble compositions of quaternary ammonium plant-growth-regulating compounds possessing improved temperature stability. Compositions contain a mixture of cationic and nonionic surfactants.
Abstract: In order to control the auto-sampler in a device such as a gas chromatograph in which data is sampled by an analog-to-digital converter, the converter providing outputs indicative of its status and having one state when the converter is enabled, another state when the converter is disabled and pulsing between said states when the converter is acquiring data, an automatic injection control device is provided which: counts the sampling pulses from the converter to insure that a full conversion cycle has been completed and sets a first signal to so indicate; through a retriggerable, one-shot multivibrator insures that the last of the sampling pulses is completed and provides a second signal accordingly; and adds these two signals with the status signal indicating that the converter is in a condition to receive data to provide a trigger signal for use by the auto-sampler.Further, a method for generating triggering signals to initiate such event is presented.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of water dispersible granular herbicidal compositions with increased thermal stability, which contain low melting substituted dinitroaniline compounds.
Abstract: The present invention relates to plant growth regulating compositions comprising the mixtures of (2-chloroethyl)-trimethylammonium chloride and 2-(4-isopropyl-4-methyl-5-oxo-2-imidazolin-2-yl) 3-quinolinecarboxylic acid, as active ingredients. These compositions enhance crop yields of wheat or barley.
Abstract: Novel cyclic pentapeptide somatostatin antagonist and method for increasing the release of growth hormone, insulin, and glucagon in mammals are described.
Abstract: A method for the racemization and hydrolysis of alkyl esters of (-)-2-(4-difluoromethoxyphenyl)-3-methylbutyric acid, followed by the resolution of said resulting racemic acid into its optically active components via salts prepared from the same with optically active amines and recovery of the dextrorotatory (+) isomer therefrom. The present invention also relates to insecticidal pyrethroids prepared from (+)-2-(4-difluoromethoxyphenyl)-3-methylbutyric acid.

Abstract: There is provided a method for enhancing the growth rate of meat-producing animals and/or improving the efficiency of feed utilization thereby, which involves, orally or parenterally, administering to said animals a growth-enhancing amount of a phenylethane compound or the acid addition salt thereof.
Abstract: The physical properties of structural surgical elements which are made from bioabsorbable materials having a glycolic ester linkage can be controlled so that the rate of strength loss and degradation in vivo is altered to achieve disintegration into fragments suitable for removal from or passage through the body without the need for waiting until the material is absorbed. This is achieved by a method of modifying the element through various chemical and/or physical treatments, preferably irradiation, or combinations thereof, with the result that bioabsorbable structural surgical elements are made more controllable in their strength loss and degradation pattern.

Abstract: A method for the preparation of 1-(4'-amino-3',5'-dichlorophenyl)-2-alkyl)or dialkyl)aminoethanols. The method involves preparation of the above compounds from the corresponding aminoketones by reduction with hydrogen in the presence of platinum oxide catalyst and a promoter, such as stannous chloride.
Abstract: Poly(glycolic acid)/poly(oxyalkylene) ABA triblock copolymers having the following formula: ##STR1## and wherein x and y have values which correspond to a total polyglycolide content of about 75 to 95 weight percent and a total polyoxyalkylene content of about 5 to 25 weight percent. The copolymers are useful for manufacturing fibers possessing a sufficiently low modulus of elasticity to permit their use as absorbable sutures having the requisite flexibility for use in monofilament form. A process of preparation involves purifying the hydroxyl-ended poly(oxyalkylene) and allowing it to react with glycolide to produce an ABA triblock copolymer of extrusion grade in which A represents a polyglycolic acid block and B represents a poly(oxyalkylene) block.
Abstract: A triblock copolymer having a proportion of units having the formula: ##STR1## as the end blocks, and the formula (I) randomly combined with a proportion of units having the formula: ##STR2## as the middle block finds particular advantageous use in manufacturing absorbable monofilament sutures and other surgical articles. A surgical article is manufactured from a synthetic absorbable copolymer formed by copolymerizing glycolide with 1,3-dioxan-2-one (trimethylene carbonate) wherein a combination of the monomers is substantially completely polymerized before the addition of the other monomer in the presence of a difunctional initiator at or below about 180.degree. C.; glycolide is added and the temperature increased up to about the melting point of poly glycolide to form a triblock copolymer with a proportion of units having the formula: ##STR3## as the end blocks, and the formula (I) randomly combined with a proportion of units having the formula: ##STR4## as the middle block.
