  • Patent number: 6262104
Abstract: Compounds, or solvates or salts thereof, of formula (I): selective delta opioid agonists and antagonists and may be of therapeutic utility as analgesics, immunosuppressants to prevent rejection in organ transplant and skin graft, anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory agents, brain cell protectants, agents for treating drug and alcohol abuse, gastritis, diarrhoea, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, cough, mental illness, epilepsy and, in general, agents for the treatment of those pathological conditions which, customarily, can be treated with agonists and antagonists of the delta opioid receptor.

  • Patent number: 4389805
Abstract: A fishing product having a specific gravity greater than 1.04 but less than 4.00 is presented which includes a body formulated from an elastomer compounded with a gravity change additive dispersed throughout the body to stabilize buoyancy in water, mineral oil and crosslinking agents to prevent leaching of toxic materials. The product is adapted for connection with a fishing line by means of a swivel axially mounted in the sinker body and bonded thereto.

  • Patent number: 4372680
Abstract: The present invention discloses a miniature spectrally selective dosimeter capable of measuring selected bandwidths of radiation exposure on small mobile areas. This is achieved by the combination of photovoltaic detectors, electrochemical integrators (E-cells) and filters in a small compact case which can be easily attached in close proximity to and substantially parallel to the surface being measured. In one embodiment two photovoltaic detectors 13 and 8, two E-cells 15 and 9 and three filters 14 and 16 are packaged in a small case 17 with attaching means consisting of a safety pin 19. In another embodiment, two detectors 31 and 32, one E-cell 33 and three filters 34 and 35 are packaged in a small case 36 with attaching means consisting of a clip 37 to clip over a side piece 38 of an eye glass frame 39. In a further embodiment, the electro-optic elements are packaged in a wristwatch case 51 with attaching means being a watchband 52.

  • Patent number: 4313743
Abstract: An electrolytic device adapted for mounting on the interior wall of a container housing sorbent chemicals for detection and display of moisture content. A sandwich or tab-type probe includes superhydroscopic MgClO.sub.4 or CaSO.sub.4 particles which resist electrical current flow when dry and have a higher affinity for moisture than the sorbent chemicals in cartridges or filters. Moisture intrusion is drawn to the anhydrous MgClO.sub.4 or CaSO.sub.4 particles changing their ohmic resistance and thereby enabling visual and nondestructive detection of the moisture intrusion into the container or cartridge. The probe is spaced away from the sorbent chemicals avoiding the transfer of mechanical stresses and any additional pressure drop through the sorbents, thereby permitting the device to be used in combination with a wide range of sealed containers and air filters.

  • Patent number: 4188735
Abstract: An adjustable semi-flexible shoe is disclosed which is structurally and isometrically adapted for controllably stably supporting a human foot during walking following surgical and therapeutical treatment of the user's lower extremities while simultaneously permitting an approximated natural gait. A laminated elongate sole of semi-flexible polymeric materials has an upper sole laminate which stably supports the foot substantially free of compression while permitting limited longitudinal flexing and a lower outer sole laminate with a substantially flat surface extending from the metatarsal area through the heel area and an upwardly tapered surface in the toe area which affords cushioned approximated natural ambulation. A single integral canvas upper has a lower portion extending transversely through the sole and upper flaps which are adjustably releasably connected with one another to adjustably stably secure the user's foot to the sole.

  • Patent number: 4178238
Abstract: Apparatus for use with extremely low-grade aggregate ore, for deriving a concentrate comprised of metal-bearing ore particles having densities within a predetermined range. The apparatus is in the form of a mobile, self-sustained system including a vehicle trailer for horizontal transport and elevated operational support, plus an integral power system capable of supplying the total energy requirements of the apparatus. Two types of particle size separation are applied, followed by compaction and particle density separation. Two density separation areas are provided to effect both coarse and fine gravitational shaving actions, and dual adjustment controls are also provided to vary the shaving force intensity to derive the concentrate independently of changes in the particular characteristics of the aggregate being processed. The apparatus includes outer and inner cylindrical chambers concentrically mounted on the trailer so as to be tiltable and rotatable.
