Abstract: A tolerance ring (10) for providing an interference fit between inner and outer components (36, 50) is disclosed. The tolerance ring (10) comprises a deformable band having a plurality of radially extending projections around its circumference, wherein the projections include a set of axially spaced protuberances (12, 13) separated by a unformed region (11) circumferentially adjacent to an axially elongate protuberance (15), the axial extent of which spans the axial extent of the set of axially spaced protuberances. This arrangement of protuberances facilitates the transfer of retention force to a component that is composed of a plurality of independent parts, e.g. two or more bearings (54, 56) separated by a spacer (58).
Abstract: A composite material includes a polyimide matrix material and an exfoliated graphite material dispersed within the polyimide matrix material. The composite material exhibits a Thermal Stability Index of at least about 20 and has a particle distribution in which 90% of the particles have a particle size not greater than 500 micrometers.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing an extract containing xanthohumol (XN), which is obtained from toasted cereal products, cereal malt, coffee or cocoa. The XN-content in said extract is in the region of 10 mg/kg-2 g/kg xanthohumol. The use of XN-toasted extracts enables the XN-content of foodstuffs and pharmaceutical products to be increased in a natural manner. This Abstract is not intended to define the invention disclosed in the specification, nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

Abstract: A novel spinner, for fiberizing hollow, irregularly-shaped insulating fibers is the subject matter of the present invention. The spinner is unique in a sense that its hole/slot pattern can be done by some standard drilling/milling techniques, which lower the cost of manufacturing. The invention uses two molten glasses (A and B) of different coefficients of thermal expansion, which are moved outwardly around the corresponding gas orifices by centrifugal force in a spinner pot. A stream of pressurized combustion gases is thrust through these central gas orifices to produce a hollow, non collapsible fiber of irregular shape. Molten glass A is introduced from the bottom of the spinner, and molten glass B is introduced above an uppermost flange and by means of centrifugal force, the two glasses A and B are forced upwardly and downwardly, respectively, into fiberizing centers.

Abstract: A system is disclosed that is designed to enable users to obtain a customized specification for a particular project, and to develop a final specification for the associated building project along with a variety of up to date supportive technical documentation relating to the selected building products and systems. The system may include a computer implemented work flow that presents the user with a plurality of screens to elicit user responses to various building product selection criteria. Based on the user responses, a list of qualifying building products/systems is presented to the user for final selection. The system is PC based for ease of use at a work site, and may periodically be connected to one or more manufacturers' web sites via the Internet to download the most recent information available about the manufacturer's products. The system contains a green feature that enables users to minimize the environmental impact of the building project.

Abstract: A method of purifying an aluminum source includes dissolving an aluminum ion source to provide a first solution including aluminum ions having a pH of not greater than 4.0, adjusting the pH of the first solution with a tetraalkylammonium hydroxide solution to a pH in range of 4.1 to 8.4 thereby forming an aluminum hydroxide precipitate, separating the aluminum hydroxide precipitate from the first solution, washing the separated aluminum hydroxide precipitate with an aqueous solution having a pH in a range of 4.1 to 8.4, dissolving the washed aluminum hydroxide precipitate using an acid to provide a second solution having a pH of not greater than 4.0, and forming an aluminum salt from the second solution.
Abstract: High quality free standing GaN is obtained using a new modification of the Epitaxial Lateral Overgrowth technology in which 3D islands or features are created only by tuning the growth parameters. Smoothing these islands (2D growth) is achieved thereafter by setting growth conditions producing enhanced lateral growth. The repetition of 3D-2D growth results in multiple bending of the threading dislocations thus producing thick layers or free standing GaN with threading dislocation density below 106 cm?2.
