  • Patent number: 4760614
Abstract: A device for displacing or washing out blockages in pipe systems. The device has a central tube which can be closed with a gate valve which thereby isolates the pipe above and below the device. Fluid under pressure is introduced through a three way valve that can be positioned to direct the flow of fluid into the isolated chamber above the gate valve if that is where the blockage is or below the gate valve if the blockage is there.

  • Patent number: 4560196
Abstract: A convertible cover for bicyclic-type vehicles, including a motorcycle and bicycle, which protects the rider from the elements. The cover can be raised or lowered to suit the rider. The main support members of the cover are flexible rods attached to and extending from the rear of the vehicle over to the front steering means of the device, and releasing the rods from the front end of the vehicle and lowering the cover allows the use of the vehicle without a cover.

  • Patent number: 4466274
Abstract: A sliding film rheometer for measuring the viscosity of a molten polymer comprising a measuring cell containing a molten polymer, the cell having a rectangular slit through which is passed a rectangular shaped tape at a constant rate and strain gauges connected to the measuring cell for measuring the shear stress and normal stress produced by pulling the rectangular shaped tape through the molten polymer and through the slit from which the viscosity is calculated. The viscosity measurement provides useful data for obtaining optimum extrusion of said molten polymers.

  • Patent number: 4332615
Abstract: Titaniferous ore is beneficiated to essentially pure titanium dioxide use in the production of titanium dioxide pigments by continuously chlorinating, in the presence of carbon and at high temperature, the ore in a first reactor wherein the iron content is maintained at about 3.5%, by weight, continuously passing the beneficiate-carbon mixture to a second reactor wherein the ratio of the diameters of the first reactor and the second reactor is in the range of 10:1 and wherein the beneficiate-carbon mixture is maintained at an iron content of about 0.1 to 1%, by weight, said beneficiate being continuously chlorinated while continuously removing the beneficiate and coke from the second reactor and continuously separating the product therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4257001
Abstract: The invention is a resonant circuit sensor of physical properties of objects that monitors measurable properties of resonant circuits affected by interactions of the objects with the polarized, resonant oscillations of the circuits. The circuits can be passive with excitation by an external energy source or active with a source included as an integral part. Simultaneous or sequential sensing of more than one physical property of objects is obtained by detecting resonant oscillation characteristics such as amplitude, frequency, phase or polarization and by detecting quantities influenced by such characteristics for one or more orientations of the objects relative to the polarization of the oscillations. These resonant oscillations can be in the form of electromagnetic fields, electric fields, magnetic fields, or acoustic waves.

  • Patent number: 4122711
Abstract: A drag force knotmeter for indicating the speed of a boat in water, especially in the range of 1-12 knots is a device attached to the boat by a flexible line and trails an elastomeric line attached to a drag. The drag is a rigid rod having an eye on one end and a circular disk on the other end. Said circular disk being attached to the rod by its center. The drag is heavier-than-water and is attached to the elastomeric line through its eye. System friction is minimized by maintaining an overall straight line configuration from the drag to the point of attachment to the boat. The elastomeric line isolates sudden surges on the drag from the indicator on the knotmeter.

  • Patent number: 4029090
Abstract: The horse foreleg brace is a cylindrical framework having hinges along the outside of the brace for opening and closing the cylinder of the leg brace and a restraining means on the other side to keep the brace closed. The top of the brace is an irregular oval, which engages the shoulder of a horse. The brace is a framework of metal rods wherein metal rods forming a circle are spaced at intervals along the vertical axis of the brace and welded to vertical rods extending downwardly from the shoulder engaging loop. A plate covers the bottom of the brace. The apparatus also has a provision for adjustment to varying lengths of a horse's leg. The apparatus is attached to a horse by means of straps which go across the horse's back and hold the apparatus in place. It is suitable for use with all four-legged animals.
