  • Patent number: 7472550
Abstract: A turbine engine system and a method for using the turbine engine system that includes at least one low-pressure compressor, at least one high-pressure compressor, at least one low-pressure turbine, and at least one high-pressure turbine. In addition, the turbine engine system includes an absorption refrigeration system that is used to pre-cool an air-gas mixture before it enters the high-pressure compressor. As such, the pre-cooled mixture is easier to compress, thereby increasing the thermal efficiency of the turbine engine. Additionally, the exhaust heat from the air-gas mixture that is pre-cooled may be used to drive the absorption refrigeration system. Lastly, water, may be extracted from the evaporator of the absorption refrigeration cycle.

  • Patent number: 6968598
Abstract: A seat back hinge fitting for a motor vehicle seat having a seat carrier and a seat back. The seat back hinge fitting has a lower arm that is rigidly fixed to the seat carrier, an upper arm that is rigidly fixed to the seat back and a forward tilting hinge for swiftly tilting the seat back forward from a position of normal utilization into a forward tilted position. A bearing hole is provided for in one of the two arms. A bearing is pivotally disposed within said bearing hole. A locking device that normally locks a pivot movement of the bearing within the bearing hole is provided. A release means that disengages the locking device when actuated for the purpose of tilting the seat back forward into the forward tilted position is assigned to the locking device.

  • Patent number: 6435324
Abstract: Luggage for carrying clothing, accessories and the like when traveling includes an adjustable packing board having first and second panels that are joined together between first and second luggage attachment ends. A pair of drawstrings are fixed at bottom ends to opposite ends of a luggage bottom and slidably connected to the attachment ends of the panels. The drawstrings can be loosened and tightened to move the packing board away from and toward the luggage bottom. The first and second panels can be separated and swung away from each other. These features allow the packing board to be moved out of the way when packing and unpacking the luggage. The packing board may also include detachable and fixed zippered compartments for containing travel items.

  • Patent number: 6387343
Abstract: A process for producing carbon foam or a composite is disclosed which obviates the need for conventional oxidative stabilization. The process employs mesophase or isotropic pitch and a simplified process using a single mold. The foam has a relatively uniform distribution of pore sizes and a highly aligned graphic structure in the struts. The foam material can be made into a composite which is useful in high temperature sandwich panels for both thermal and structural applications.

  • Patent number: 6318378
Abstract: A hair styling device for twirling locks of hair together including a main body, and at least two hair grabbers for respectively grabbing separate locks of hair. Each of the hair grabbers is connected to respective hair twisters, and each of the hair twisters rotates respective locks of hair to form twists of hair. The device further comprises a hair twist rotator body connected to each of the hair grabbers. The hair twist rotator body is connected to and rotatable relative to the main body. Rotation of the hair twist rotator body cables the twists of hair to form a cord of hair. The hair grabbers are substantially stationary relative to the hair twist rotator when the hair twist rotator rotates relative to the main body.
