Abstract: The present invention concerns a process for the preparation of free flowing granules of low hygroscopicity of one or more methylglycine diacetic acid (MGDA) salts, of the formula wherein R?CH3 and M is hydrogen, alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium or substituted ammonium in the appropriate stoechiometric amounts, by a process comprising the steps of i) heating a concentrated slurry comprising methylglycine diacetic acid (MGDA) and/or any salts thereof, the slurry having a solids content in the range of 45% to 70% and suitably in the range from 50% to 70%, and a moisture content of 30% up to 55%, and suitably between 30% and 50%, to a temperature in the range of 50 to 120° C., preferably to about 80° C., and ii) spray granulating said slurry, using an air inlet temperature of 120° C. or less.

Abstract: In an apparatus and process for manufacturing a detergent bar, the bar comprises a first distinct zone comprising a first component and at least a second distinct zone comprising a second component. In an injection step, the first and second components are injected into the mould cavity via nozzle means having a first orifice through which the first component is injected. The second component is injected through a second orifice of the nozzle means. The first and second components solidify in the cavity to form the bar. The interface between the zones may be non-planar and/or such that the zones cannot be separated by a unidirectional cut. The first and second zones may respectively comprise detergent and a benefit agent. The first and second zones may differ in texture.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the manufacture of frozen instant cooking pasta from elongated dried pasta products that substantially retains the pre-processing length of the dried pasta comprising the steps of; (i) dividing an elongated dried pasta products into one or more portions, each portion having a desired mass; (ii) loading each portion of pasta into one of a plurality of separate dosing devices; (iii) re-hydrating each portion of pasta within a dosing device; (iv) quenching the re-hydrated pasta resulting from step (iii); (v) freezing. Further embodiments are directed to the apparatus that is necessary for carrying out this process and the frozen product achieved.
Abstract: A toggle-action dispensing closure is provided for manipulation between a closed, non-dispensing orientation and an open, dispensing orientation that is easily assembled, resists inadvertent opening and has an improved aesthetic appearance for variously shaped closures. The closure includes an actuator rotationally mounted on a housing whereby the housing may be secured to a container. The axis of rotation of the actuator is asymmetrically disposed in the housing. The actuator has a rear flange with an articulatable hinge that is longer than its front flange. When the closure is securely mounted to a container, the portion of the rear flange below the hinge resiliently contacts the container assisting in preventing inadvertently opening the closure.
Abstract: A mild, substantially isotropic skin cleansing solution was found to be able to suspend insoluble components and provide copious amounts of lather. The cleanser is formulated with synthetic anionic surfactants and a specific ratio of carboxylic acid(s) to hydrophobically modified cross-linked acrylate copolymer(s). The carboxylic acid and acrylate polymer combination were found to provide a synergistic effect on zero shear viscosity at 25 C in a specific pH and copolymer/acid concentration ratio range.

Abstract: A system for continuous casting of melt-cast products such as soaps, detergents and the like comprising: i) a substantially vertically disposable mold unit to favor solidification/casting of the melt cast composition during an upstream motion through the mold unit; ii) the mold unit operatively connected at it's lower end to a supply source of the melt-cast composition; iii) means for controlling the temperature of the melt in the mold unit to achieve the desired solidification and shaping during traverse of the melt from the bottom of the mold towards the top thereof, which is adapted to eject the formed cast product.
