  • Patent number: 8342709
Abstract: LED module, arrays of LED modules, luminaires incorporating such arrays, and methods of illumination where the configuration of respective components facilitates any one or more of desired angle, location and shape of illumination provided by the LEDs. LED modules are selectively disposed on a carrier plate. Each of the LED modules includes a substantially planar LED circuit board with LED chips disposed thereon, a heat sink formed of heat transmitting material and having a mounting surface for accommodating an LED circuit board to dissipate heat from the LED chips, and a reflector with its reflective surface disposed with respect to the LED chips to direct the emitted light toward an axis of illumination extending away from and substantially perpendicular to a plane containing the planar LED circuit board.

  • Patent number: 8096839
Abstract: A multi-port telecommunications connector panel has an electrically conductive housing that defines a plurality of ports, each with a plug receiving cavity aligned with a respective set of jack contacts. The housing surrounds the sets of jack contacts individually and collectively to separate and isolate adjacent ports. Electrically conductive isolation barriers, which are electrically connected to and may be integral with the housing, separate adjacent sets of insulation displacement contacts, which are arranged in an offset pattern.

  • Patent number: 8092129
Abstract: A bonding washer for making electrical connection between two metal pieces that are to be mechanically fastened together. The washer, to be interposed between the two metal pieces, is constructed so as to fasten to one of the pieces before the two pieces are joined. Teeth on the washer, positioned at right angles to the plane of the washer, are forced into each of the two metal pieces when the fastener is tightened, making electrical connection between the two metal pieces.

  • Patent number: 8070501
Abstract: A high-voltage electrical connector includes a strategically placed barrier that acts as an arc shield to reduce the ionization of materials during load break switching, reducing or preventing flashover. An electric stress graded interface design also reduces switching flashover and reduces the fault close energy. Mating features on the piston-contact element and inside the surrounding container accurately guide the piston-contact element as it travels along the container.

  • Patent number: 7909657
Abstract: An electrical connector adapted to receive a mating plug utilizes low-profile jack terminal contacts that can flex in their PCB-anchored base portions, which are substantially parallel to the PCB. Any bend in the distal connecting portion or in the intermediate transition portion of each terminal contact is gradual and forms an obtuse angle, thus minimizing stress concentrations. The contacts preferably are arranged in two oppositely facing and interdigitating rows of four contacts each. In one embodiment, the terminal contacts are anchored to the PCB by a contact cradle that constrains the base portion of each terminal contact at two spaced anchoring locations, allowing the base portion to flex therebetween. In another embodiment, the base portions of the terminal contacts are embedded in at least one elastomeric member, which is fitted to the PCB.

  • Patent number: 7824196
Abstract: An electrical receptacle with a body sized to fit in a NEMA-standard single wall box has a substantially rectangular face with phase blade openings, neutral blade openings and ground prong openings associated with respective first, second and third outlets, each outlet having a centerline passing through its ground prong opening parallel to its phase and neutral blade openings. The centerline of the first outlet is oblique to the edges of the face and oblique to the centerline of at least one other outlet. The centerlines of all of the outlets may be mutually nonparallel, and they may be mutually oblique. The centerline of the second outlet may be parallel to an edge of the face; and if so, the centerline of the third outlet may be either perpendicular to or parallel to the centerline of the second outlet. In a preferred arrangement, the centerlines are mutually nonparallel, and the ground prong openings of two of the outlets are located at corners of the face that share a common longer edge.

  • Patent number: 7618284
Abstract: An electrical assembly comprising an electrical box and a single gang electrical outlet having both a power connector and at least one communications connector and being supported in the box. The electrical outlet is receivable in the box, which has a barrier to isolate the power and communications connectors, but is not receivable in a standard box, which would not have the required barrier, due to the spacing and locations of the mounting fasteners and protrusions extending downwardly near the ends of the outlet. In addition to the electrical outlet with the power and communications connectors, the electrical box can receive a standard single gang outlet therein upon removal of the barrier.
