  • Patent number: 6149079
Abstract: A top dresser (10) includes a spinner assembly (40) removably connected by clips (44) to a cross beam (20) of the frame (12) mounting a hopper (30). The first and second sides (36) of the hopper (30) slope downwardly and inwardly to a conveyor (140) formed by sheeting (70) in the form of an endless belt having a relatively smooth outer surface. The valve (84) for the hydraulic motor (164) of the conveyor (140) is in series downstream of the valve (78) for the hydraulic motors (56) for the spinners (54) of the spinner assembly (40). Thus, it is not possible to mistakenly run the conveyor (140) without the spinners (54) operating. Therefore, the top dresser (10) is able to spread extremely minimal amounts of material evenly and without clumping or bunching.

  • Patent number: 6069480
Abstract: A device (10) for testing miniature electronic components (104) includes a pair of contacts (88, 90), each of which is adapted to engage a common side (121) of a lead (110) of the electronic component (104) to be tested at longitudinally spaced locations. In particular, each contact (88, 90) includes an end portion (95, 99) that is arranged at an angle to both the lead (110) and the other contact (88, 90), while extending in a common vertical plane with the other contact (88, 90). In a preferred form of the invention, the device (10) includes a base (46) to which the first and second contacts (88, 90) are mounted. Each of the contacts (88, 90) include first and second end portions (94, 95 and 98, 99), with the first end portion (94, 98) of each contact (88, 90) being fixed relative to the base (46) and the second end portion (95, 99) extending at an angle to a plane of the base (46).

  • Patent number: 6056299
Abstract: A base structure for a skate includes a base including an upper side having a front end and a rear end, a pivotal seat mounted to the front end of the base, and a connecting rod mounted above the base. The pivotal seat includes two lateral walls and a recess defined in an upper side thereof The connecting rod includes a front end pivotally connected between the lateral walls of the pivotal seat. The connecting rod is attached to an underside of a shoe. The front end of the connecting rod includes a hooked section formed on an underside thereof for bearing against a rear side wall that defines a portion of the recess of the pivotal seat, thereby restraining pivotal movement of the connecting rod relative to the pivotal seat.

  • Patent number: 6047527
Abstract: A bag loading apparatus (26) of a packaging system (10) includes a platen (68) having a convex upper surface upon which layers of bags (16) are sequentially placed, with the platen (68) being lowered upon receipt of each layer, until a full stack is supported on the platen (68). The loading apparatus (26) also includes a pivotally mounted pusher plate (98) against which the layered bags (16) are arranged when supported on the platen (68). Furthermore, a shelf (58) is arranged above both the platen (68) and the pusher plate (98) and is preferably pivotally mounted about a common axis with the pusher plate (98). With a stack of bags (16) on the platen (68), the pusher plate (98) accelerates across the platen (68) to shift the bags (16) into an open container (28), with the bags (16) preferably assuming a generally wedge-shape to aid in the loading of the bags (16) into the container (28).

  • Patent number: 5964353
Abstract: Carrier tape (12) is disclosed which absorbs kinetic energy and protects the leads (34, 34') of electronic circuit components (32) from bending or being otherwise damaged in an industry drop test. The components (32) are supported in pockets (22) by platforms (40) which are free of ridges extending above the bottoms of the components (32). The free ends of the leads (34) simultaneously engage ramp portions (42) of the pocket sidewalls (24) which are inclined upwardly and outwardly from the pocket bottoms (26) to center the components (32) in the pockets (22). The pockets (22) are of a size to sandwich the components (32) against the platforms (40) when the carrier tape (12) is in a stacked arrangement such as by being wound on a reel (58). The pocket bottoms (26) include undercuts (54) allowing the pocket bottoms (26) in an upper layer to sandwich two different components (32) in two circumferentially adjacent pockets (22) of the lower layer.
