Abstract: A side loading refuse collection vehicle has a lift arm extendible and rotatable relative to the vehicle, the lift arm carrying grabber apparatus at an end for grasping a refuse container which may be lifted and dumped into the top of the body of the vehicle. The lift arm which is guided to move in a path so as to grasp the container, raise it, dump it and return it to its initial position, is driven toward and away from the vehicle by a first hydraulic drive cylinder and lifted and lowered by a second hydraulic drive cylinder. The first hydraulic drive cylinder has a drive rod on which a locking bolt is secured and may be captured in a receptacle of a keeper when the rod is in the fully retracted position to lock the arm against inadvertent and undesirable extension outwardly away from the vehicle. The keeper is pivotally mounted and moved by the output rod of a pneumatic cylinder to permit the bolt to be released from the receptacle when the hydraulic drive is activated.

Abstract: A rotatable yarn cooling drum for cooling yarn plugs emanating from two texturizers has a circumferential perforated shell about which the yarn plugs are wound and cooled. A deflector in the form of a finger is spaced radially from the surface of the shell and laterally positioned between the ends of the shell. A yarn guide radially spaced from the drum has two yarn guide grooves for guiding the yarn plugs onto the shell at one side of the deflector and one lateral end of the shell. The yarn plugs may thus enter onto the shell at one lateral end and exit at the other lateral end after making more than a complete turn on the drum. The guide slots are illustrated as formed in a block to which the finger is attached.

Abstract: An unvented gas-log fireplace is formed from a sheet metal member bent to form side and rear panels. A pair of spaced apart sheet metal plates are connected between the side panels and have rear edges spaced from the rear panel. The rear edges of the plates are bent to form lips extending in a direction toward the opposite plate. Bracket members are secured to the plates adjacent the side panels. A rear refractory member is positioned between the plates in engagement with the lips, and side refractory panels are positioned in abutment with a respective side sheet metal panel and held in place by the bracket members, the side ceramic panels abutting the rear ceramic panel at the sides thereof.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for machining the surface of a spherical segment, the surface being either convex or concave, by a circular milling cutter mounted on a milling machine and rotatably driven about an axis of rotation. The segment is carried by a fixture journally mounted for pivoting about a pivot axis passing through the spherical center of the surface to be cut, and the axis of rotation also passes through the spherical center. The teeth of the cutter lie in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation which is the furthest such plane that intersects the face of the cutter so that only the cutting teeth will contact the spherical surface to be formed. The fixture is pivoted about the pivot axis and the segment moves through and is cut by the rotating teeth to form the spherical surface.
