  • Patent number: 5740461
Abstract: A data processing system is described utilising two instruction sets. Both instruction sets control processing using full N-bit data pathways within a processor core 2. One instruction set is a 32-bit instruction set and the other is a 16-bit instruction set. Both instruction sets are permanently installed and have associated instruction decoding hardware 30, 36, 38.

  • Patent number: 5737583
Abstract: A primary circuit model using a primary simulator 40' operates in conjunction with a plurality of secondary circuit models 10, 20, 30 using a secondary simulator 100. Only signals external to the secondary circuit models are passed between the primary simulator and the secondary simulator. The primary simulator and the secondary simulator independently increment their simulated time when they are active. The secondary simulator is invoked when a signal to which one of the secondary circuit models is responsive is changed by the primary simulator. The secondary simulator is not exited until no further signal changes are being driven by the secondary circuit models at which stage the last asserted values of signals changed by the secondary circuit models are returned to the primary model.

  • Patent number: 5708749
Abstract: Lighting apparatus and method includes a body of optically transparent material including selected interior and exterior surface portions that are polished or otherwise smoothed to promote internal reflections of light flux and to inhibit lateral emission of internal light flux. Other selected portions of the interior or exterior surfaces are modified from smooth to refract or diffuse internal light flux for lateral emission of light flux from such surface portions of the body. The modified surface portions of the body may include grooved or otherwise roughened regions to a depth that inhibits surface wetting to relatively smooth surface condition which would diminish lateral emission of internal light flux. Alternative surface conditions for refracting or diffusing internal light flux to laterally-emitted light flux may be provided by laminated or layered light diffusers such as plastic tape or adhered glass or plastic beads.

  • Patent number: 5698784
Abstract: A vibrating gyroscope employs an electromagnetic transducer assembly which excites the vibration of the inertial element and senses its trajectory to provide an indication of movement relative to the plane of vibration of the inertial element. The transducer assembly allows for calibration of the gyroscope by positioning the transducer relative to the inertial element, thereby eliminating conventional requirements for selectively removing material from the inertial element during final calibration. Elastic members of the inertial element are manufactured in a monolithic structure to enhance the vibratory symmetry of the inertial element and the consistency and repeatability of its resonant properties. A phase-shifting circuit allows accurate extraction of rate information from the transducer while rejecting error signals. A mounting system facilitates mounting inertial elements to provide a simple implementations of multi-axis vibrating gyroscopes.

  • Patent number: 5695514
Abstract: Apparatus and method of harvesting a vessel of interest use a thin-walled, dark-colored sheath inserted within the vessel with the aid of an inner, slidable support member that is removed following placement of the sheath within the length of the vessel of interest.

  • Patent number: 5680599
Abstract: A data processing apparatus and method are described in which a reset function for recovering from a system crash is provided. Upon activation of a reset signal (nRESET), the contents of a program counter (R15pc) are saved within another register (R14svc) prior to the reinitialization of the system. The contents of the register saving the program counter value are preserved through the reset operation to provide information to a person seeking to debug the system as to where a particular problem requiring the reset signal to be initiated occurred within the instruction address sequence.
