Abstract: Methods, computer code products, devices, modules, systems, and encoders are disclosed which are configured to use an adaptive lag search window for determining a lag estimate for a current frame of information in an audio encoding system. The system can determine if the lag estimate is reliable and if not a new search window can be selected and a new lag estimate can be calculated based on the new search window. An adaptive threshold can be compared to the cross correlation for a lag estimate in order to determine whether the lag estimate is reliable. The system can also determine if an encoding gain is likely to be achieved using the prediction and if not, the computationally expensive time-to-frequency transformation can be avoided.

Abstract: A system and method for managing voice communication between devices located within a local network and other devices. The present invention permits the managing and selective routing of voice communications over VoIP systems, circuit-based cellular systems and public switched telephone network systems based upon predefined criteria such as Quality of Service (QoS) considerations, geographic considerations, cost considerations and other factors.

Abstract: The present invention provides for methods and apparatus for fragmenting a single message and sending the message fragments over multiple independent networks to a single receiving unit. The receiving unit then reassembles the message fragments to generate the original message. The preferred apparatus embodiment is a wireless radio frequency modem that can both receive and transmit fragmented messages over multiple independent networks.

Abstract: An extension to the ISO Base Media File Format to support ALC as a broadcast protocol. The present invention also provides for the extension of the ESG to include metadata specific to the transport of SVG over mobile broadcast/multicast networks. A “BMFDP hint track” is introduced in the container file format, with the required file metadata being in these hint tracks. The present invention can be used in applications such as the preview of long cartoon animations, interactive Mobile TV services, live enterprise data feeds, live chat services, and karaoke programs.

Abstract: A system and method of identifying a position of a crop row in a field, where an image of two or more crop rows is transmitted to a vision data processor. The vision data processor defines a candidate scan line profile for a corresponding heading and pitch of associated with a directional movement of a vehicle, for example, traversing the two or more crop rows. The candidate scan line profile comprises an array of vector quantities, where each vector quantity comprises an intensity value and a corresponding position datum. A preferential scan line profile in a search space about the candidate scan line profile is determined, and the candidate scan line profile is identified as a preferential scan line profile for estimating a position (e.g., peak variation) of one or more crop rows if a variation in the intensity level of the candidate scan line profile exceeds a threshold variation value.

Abstract: A method of transmitting data in a communication system. Data packets are transmitted from a first node to a second node on a first channel. An acknowledgement packet is transmitted from the second node to the first node on a second channel in response to receiving a number of packets on the first channel. The number of data packets that the acknowledgment packet is sent in response to is adjustable.

Abstract: A system, a method, and a cellular communication terminal for fetching content from at least one server. The cellular communication terminal is arranged with a receiver and a transmitter, to receive and transmit data packets from at least one server through links. The link is arranged to transmit the data packets between the terminal and the server arranged with a first memory comprising an identifier and at least one item. The item is provided with an access point, which indicates the location of the server to be accessed. The server is accessed by sending the access point and the identified to the link to identify a first content to be accessed. The first content is associated with link content, which is provided at different locations in the server or on other servers. A browser application is arranged in the terminal, to establish a session to link, by reading an item from the first memory.

Abstract: An improved method, device and computer program product for enabling a system to learn, categorize and search items such as images and video clips according to their semantic meanings. According to the present invention, prominent features can be separated from low-level features in an item using supervised learning approaches. Prominent features are used to categorize and annotate new target items. Users can then use key words and/or template items for searching through the respective database.

Abstract: An improved system and method for transmitting a multiplexed service stream over an error prone DVB-H channel. Media IP packets are priority labeled. For each time slice burst, the IP packets are grouped based upon the priority labels. MPE-FEC matrices are made for the different priority labels in each time slice burst. RSDT columns are computed such that the average service bit rate does not overshoot the maximum allowed service bit rate, and the protection increases with priority. The ADT and RSDT of the MPE-FEC matrices are then encapsulated into MPE-FEC sections.

Abstract: A method of multi-lingual speech recognition can include determining whether characters in a word are in a source list of a language-specific alphabet mapping table for a language, converting each character not in the source list according to a general alphabet mapping table, converting each converted character according to the language-specific alphabet mapping table, verifying that each character in the word is in a character set of the language, removing characters not in the character set of the language, and identifying a pronunciation of the word.

Abstract: A device and a method provide for selection of a database from a corpus using an, optimization function. The method includes defining a size of a database, calculating a distance using a distance function for each pair in a set of pairs, and executing an optimization function using the distance to select each entry saved in the database until the number of saved entries equals the size of the database. Each pair in the set of pairs includes either two entries selected from a corpus or one entry selected from a set of previously selected entries and another entry selected from a set of a remaining portion of the corpus. The distance function may be a Levenshtein distance function or a generalized Levenshtein distance function.

Abstract: A system and method for implementing situation-related actions in a mobile electronic device such as a mobile telephone. The mobile electronic device is programmed with a definition of at least one triggering event, as well as a definition of at least one response activity that is to occur if the at least one triggering event is detected. The present invention involves the monitoring of the mobile electronic device for the occurrence of the at least one triggering event. Upon detecting that the at least one triggering event has occurred, the at least one response activity is initiated.

Abstract: A method comprising determining information for the performance of a channel and sending the determined information to a transmitter is disclosed. The determined information can be sent to the transmitter with acknowledgement data. The determined information can include, for example, data rate and/or transmit power. The acknowledgement data can be sent in an acknowledgement frame, such as a block acknowledgement frame or immediate acknowledgement frame. The determined information can be sent in the payload of the frame. The frame can, for example, be a kink feedback frame associated only with a particular transmitter and receiver. A characteristic of the channel, such as signal and interference to noise ratio, can also be determined.

Abstract: In a wireless communication terminal having a flashlight, the power consumption is decreased by means of enabling a transmitter to transmit during transmission periods, and disabling the transmitter outside the transmission periods. Moreover, a supply of voltage from a common power supply to a flashlight unit is disabled during the transmitting periods of the transmitter.

Abstract: A method, computer code product for limiting a wireless communication device to a specified geographic zone. The device is configured to connect to a subscriber device in a subscriber network and determine if the subscriber device is on a list of preapproved subscriber devices in the specified geographic zone. The device can also be configured to determine if it is connected to a subscriber device on at least one neighbor list of approved subscriber devices. If the device is connected to a subscriber device on the preapproved list or a neighbor list, the device is permission as if it is in the geographic zone. Additional subscriber devices can be added to the neighbor list(s) when the device is handed off from an approved subscriber device based on the previous subscriber device to which the device was connected.

Abstract: A system and method for using a single frame to trigger a response from multiple stations in a WLAN network in a scheduled order when in an ad hoc mode. Each responding station responds to the requesting station with an indication of the amount and periodicity of the data stream that the responding stations want to transmit. This allows for an efficient schedule, and a requesting station can go to sleep after it has completed all of its data transactions with the responding stations in the WLAN network.
