  • Patent number: 7359372
Abstract: A method and a decompressor node in Internet Protocol (IP) network for fast change of IP Headers Compression (HC) mechanism are provided. A Mobile Station (MS) connected to a serving system uses a first IP HC mechanism therewith. Upon initiating handoff of the MS from the serving system to a target system, a second IP HC mechanism is chosen to be used with the target system. The second IP HC mechanism is initialized using information received at the target system from the serving system. In a preferred embodiment, the received information is a decompression context and the initialization of the second IP HC mechanism consists of translating the decompression context from the first IP HC mechanism to the second IP HC mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7324439
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method, a service node and a system for providing IP redundancy between a first service node and a second service node being mutually redundant. The first and the second service nodes are connected via a virtual connection. The first service node has a physical network interface to an IP node and a virtual network interface to the virtual connection. The first service node comprises a routing table having a cost associated with the virtual network interface. The method comprises steps of detecting by the first service node that the second service node is unavailable, updating in the routing table the cost from a higher value to a lower value and informing the IP node connected to the physical network interface of the update of the cost so as to process at the first service node traffic addressed to the second service node.

  • Patent number: 7088993
Abstract: A method, system and server for selectively sending out notification to a message recipient when a new message is available for retrieval. A sender sends a message to a recipient. A first server receives the message and detects a condition for forwarding the message to a second server. The first server further detects an internal setting for sending or not sending a notification alerting the recipient of the presence of the message. Based on this setting, the first server inserts an indication in a copy of the message that is forwarded to the second server. Upon receipt of the copied message by the second server, the former knows whether or not the first server has already issued a notification to the recipient, and uses this information for selectively sending out a notification only in cases where the first server has not sent such notification.

  • Patent number: 7065053
Abstract: A method, system and agent for exchanging the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Technical Specification document number a first node uses, with a second node of the network, so that subsequent communications can be properly carried between the nodes. The first node may be an agent and the second node may be a manager of a management system. The manager sends a GetXXXIRPVersion request message, a GetNotificationCategories request message, or a GetNetworkResourceSchemeId request message, to which the agent responds with an abridged version of the 3GPP TS document number the agent uses in this type of communications, so that the manager is informed of the protocol employed by the agent and can expect communications of the type indicated by the agent.

  • Patent number: 7027577
Abstract: A method and system for selecting a Multimedia Resource Function Controller (MRFC) for allocating resources for a conference call based on a pre-defined condition. In a first embodiment, the condition is associated with a status of an MRFC of a first network, such as an overload of resources, a failure, or an inexistence of the MRFC in the first network. When the condition is detected, an application server (AS) of the first network delegates the responsibility of allocating the resources for the conference call to an MRFC of a second network. In a second embodiment, the pre-defined condition is associated with a location of a User Equipment (UE) involved in the conference call. Based on the UE's location, the AS of the first network selects an MRFC of a second network, and delegates the responsibility of allocating the resources for the conference call to the MRFC of the second network.

  • Patent number: 6853627
Abstract: In a third generation (3G) General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) network, a method, system and Radio Base Station (RBS) for paging a Mobile Station (MS) wherein a portion of the master routing area-cell mapping table related to a particular Radio base Stations (RBS) is downloaded in that RBS. The serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN) initiates a page request and sends it through an IP based network directly to the RBSs, without involving a Radio Network Server (RNS) or a Radio Network Management Control Point (RMCP), via broadcast message, such as for example an IP broadcast message or an IP Multicast Message. Upon receipt of the page request, each RBS decapsulates the received message, extracts the routing area (RA) information, derives the cell list to be paged from the RBS resident routing area-cell mapping table and performs the actual radio page broadcast over the destination cells.

  • Patent number: 6675020
Abstract: In a cellular telecommunications network, a method and a cell radio controller for reducing Out Of Band radio Emissions (OOBEs) generated by cellular transmissions into downlink radio channels of a coexisting radio network, such as the police radio network. The invention detects an uplink transmission of the coexistent network radio terminal, and measures its transmitting power level. If the power level exceeds a predetermined threshold, then the downlink radio channel associated with the radio transmission is determined, and further it is determined the cellular downlink channels that create OOBEs that interfere with the downlink radio channel of the coexistent system.

  • Patent number: 6587686
Abstract: The present invention is directed to method and apparatus for detecting base station (BS) transceivers malfunctions in a cellular telecommunications system. A Transceiver Malfunction Detector (TMD) receives and stores information related to the service performance of the BS transceivers and sorts the information on a per transceiver basis, for generating a service quality value for each transceiver. The TMD computes a service quality threshold value proportional to the average performance of the BS transceivers, and compares the service quality value of each monitored transceiver with the threshold, for determining the acceptability of the transceiver performance. The TMD also detects the cause of a malfunction in a transceiver, by assigning the frequencies used by an adequate transceiver to a transceiver suspected to be malfunctioning and by further monitoring the activity of the initially malfunctioning transceiver.

  • Patent number: 6470075
Abstract: A method and system for determining whether at least one telephone subscriber participating in a communication session is marked for monitoring by a Law Enforcement Agency (LEA) and, if so, for automatically marking for monitoring all remaining participants in the communication session. In a presently preferred exemplary embodiment, the subscribers are marked for monitoring their communications for a selected period of time by a starting the timer each time a new subscriber is marked. In another preferred exemplary embodiment, the subscribers marking level is detected and verified to determine if the marking level satisfies a pre-defined condition associated therewith. If so, the corresponding subscriber is marked for monitoring and the subscriber's subsequent communications are monitored.
