Patent number: 5601787Abstract: An apparatus for multistage, hot stripping of spent FCC catalyst in a regenerator having a stripper supported by the regenerator is disclosed. A secondary stripper, under the conventional primary stripper, is heated indirectly by immersion in a dense bed of hot regenerated catalyst, or heat exchange with a dilute phase transport riser encompassing the primary stripper standpipe and secondary stripper, or by direct contact heat exchange with added hot regenerated catalyst. Vapor from the secondary stripper passes through the primary stripper without contacting spent catalyst in the primary stripper.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1992Date of Patent: February 11, 1997Assignee: Mobil Oil CorporationInventors: Hartley Owen, Paul H. Patent number: 5539076Abstract: Resins which are in situ catalytically produced blends of broad bimodal molecular weight distribution ethylene resin are produced. The resins of the invention are characterized by a blend of low molecular weight component and high molecular weight component with HMW component weight fraction which is greater than 0 (zero). Generally, the LMW/HMW weight fraction can be controlled within a very broad range. The resin has a molecular weight distribution, which is characterized as MFR or Mw/Mn. The bimodal molecular weight resins can be processed into films on existing equipment, and exhibit good processability in blown film production and provide film product of excellent FQR. The resin of the invention exhibits reduced tendency towards die-lip buildup and smoking in on-line operations.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 1995Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: Mobil Oil CorporationInventors: Thomas E. Patent number: 5538696Abstract: Horizontal, small diameter cyclones are disclosed. Gas and fines are added tangentially around a clean vapor outlet tube in a cylindrical cyclone. A vortex of solids and some gas passes into a contiguous and axially aligned cylindrical vortex containment means from which solids are withdrawn via a horizontal slot. 0-5 micron particle removal is enhanced. An FCC process uses the cyclones as a third stage separator. An alternative design uses a half pipe extension on the solids outlet to confine the vortex of solids and gas.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1994Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: Mobil Oil CorporationInventors: Michael F. Patent number: 5525678Abstract: A bimetallic catalyst produces broad or bimodal molecular weight distribution polyolefin resin whose composition depends on the ratio of the concentration of the two metals of the catalyst producing the HMW and LMW components. The bimetallic catalyst produces a broad/bimodal MWD resin whose HMW and LMW components depend on the relative productivity of each of the transition metal sites of the catalyst. Water and/or carbon dioxide are cofed to the polymerization reactor at levels necessary to modify the weight fractions of the HMW and LMW components, thus achieving a target molecular weight distribution, MWD. The invention allows the resin MWD to be adjusted in the reactor. The weight fraction of the high molecular weight component decreases with the addition of the water and or the carbon dioxide and the FI of the overall product increases with a decrease in the HMW component weight fraction in the product.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1994Date of Patent: June 11, 1996Assignee: Mobil Oil CorporationInventors: Robert I. Patent number: 5520799Abstract: This invention is a process for the upgrading of distillate feeds. A batch of supported hydroprocessing catalyst is placed in a reaction zone, which is usually a fixed bed reactor. The hydroprocessing catalyst comprises an effective amount of a noble metal or metals and has a specific activity. Both low aromatic diesel and jet fuel may be produced in separate blocks over the same catalyst batch, using different feeds and often different conditions. The activity of the catalyst is restored each time the feed is switched. When production is switched from jet fuel to low aromatics diesel, activity may be regained more quickly by holding the catalyst at a higher temperature than the reaction temperature for a specific period of time prior to dropping the temperature to the reaction temperature. Switching from one feed to the other may continue for about one year before the catalyst batch is changed. A dual catalyst system may alternatively be employed.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1994Date of Patent: May 28, 1996Assignee: Mobil Oil CorporationInventors: Stephen H. Brown, Paul P. Durand, Timothy L. Hilbert, Thomas R. Kiliany, Chang-Kuei Lee, Jeffrey C. Trewella

Patent number: 5516736Abstract: There is provided a method for selectivating a zeolite, such as ZSM-5 which may result in functionalization of the zeolite with at least one organosiliceous group of the formula, SiR.sub.n (OX).sub.4-n, where R is at least one hydrocarbyl group, n is 1 or 2 and X is Si or H. This selectivation method involves vapor phase treatment of a zeolite with an organosilicon compound having at least 2 silicon atoms. This organosilicon compound may be a silicone compound, such as hexamethyldisiloxane, or a silane compound such as hexamethyldisilane. This contacting may take place in the presence of hydrogen and an organic carrier. Patent number: 5516962Abstract: There are provided a catalyst, a method for making this catalyst, and a process for using this catalyst in the alkylation of an isoparaffin with an olefin to provide an alkylate. The catalyst may be made from an as-synthesized material which, upon calcination, is capable of generating zeolites designated MCM-22. Patent number: 5513705Abstract: The invention is a foam method for improving conformance during a steam flood or carbon dioxide flood in a subterranean, oil-containing formation penetrated by at least one injection well and at least one production well. In a steam flood oil recovery process, sweep efficiency is improved by injecting steam until steam breakthrough occurs at the production well after which a mixture of steam, a noncondensible gas, and an aqueous surfactant-polypeptide solution is injected into the formation. The aqueous surfactant-polypeptide solution forms a stable foam with the formation oil at formation conditions that reduce the permeability of the highly permeable steam swept zones thereby diverting the steam to other portions of the formation containing unswept oil. The polypeptide is used as a partial substitute for the surfactant to improve the cost of the foam-forming mixture without reducing its effectiveness in increasing sweep efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1995Date of Patent: May 7, 1996Assignee: Mobil Oil CorporationInventors: Nizar F.
