Patent number: 4003941Abstract: A process for the production of polyhalocarbon oxides not requiring the use of light is disclosed. This process involves introducing into a reaction zone perhaloolefin and ozone. The polymers obtained are substantially free of oxidizing linkages. The polyhalocarbon oxides and hydrolyzed products obtained therefrom are useful as intermediates for stabilized materials useful, for instance, as heat transfer media and lubricants, and for cured materials useful, for instance, in sealant systems and adhesive systems.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1973Date of Patent: January 18, 1977Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventors: George H. Patent number: 4003525Abstract: A device adapted for supporting a high inertia spool of stretchable strip material which strip material is withdrawn from the spool at varying rates by a strip applicating machine. The device includes a member which guides a length of the strip material being withdrawn. The guide member is adapted to be pivoted by tension in the strip material being withdrawn, and when pivoted activates a variable speed motor which rotates the spool to unwind the strip and maintain tension in the strip below an acceptable value. The motor is coupled to the spool through a worm drive which brakes rotation of the spool when the motor is de-energized to restrict over-running of the spool after tension in the strip is decreased.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1975Date of Patent: January 18, 1977Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Richard T. Patent number: 4001072Abstract: An apparatus and method for applying folded lengths of pressure-sensitive adhesive tape to articles with one-half of the adhesive surface of the tape length secured to an article and a liner secured to the other half of the adhesive surface. The adhesive tape is folded to leave the adhesive surface exposed. A liner which may be wider than the folded tape is then secured to the adhesive on one-half of the folded tape. The tape and liner composite is cut and a movable vacuum pad applies the cut length to the article with the exposed adhesive applied to the article.
