Abstract: A lighting fixture having a housing with a main body, and a primary light source disposed beneath a cover secured thereto with a latching mechanism. The light fixture may include a reflector suspended above the main body on a pair of struts. The latching mechanism is engaged by pivoting at least one exterior wall of the housing to provide tool-less access to the light source. In an alternative embodiment, the main body attaches to a mounting arm and a wall mount housing with a secondary adjustable light source.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for preventing the miswiring of a protection device. The protection device includes line terminals and load terminals. The protection device further includes a latching mechanism, adapted to move between a closed state which establishes electrical contact between said line and load terminals, and an open state which prevents electrical contact between said line and load terminals; and an initial reset prevention mechanism, adapted to prevent said latching mechanism from being set in said closed state until power is applied to said line terminals.

Abstract: A fire assembly that can be used for installing recessed electrical fixtures into various structures such as wall assemblies is provided. The fire assembly includes an electrical fixture contained within a generally fire-resistant housing. The housing can enclose the electrical fixture in such a manner that the resulting fire assembly has an integral structure. In some instances, a support structure can be utilized to attach the housing to the electrical fixture. Furthermore, the housing can be a cube-shaped box have a variety of generally fire-resistant walls. These walls can be made from materials such as sheet rock.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for characterizing a three phase transformer (3) using a single phase power supply (1). Pairs of input terminals (H0-H3) of the transformer are sequentially energized for each energization and the voltage between pairs of output terminals (x0-x3) of the transformer are measured. Measured voltages are processed in order to characterize the winding configuration of the transformer. Either simultaneously or subsequently the presence of neutrals on the primary and/or secondary side of the transformer are identified to enable the winding configuration to be further characterized. Subsequently any phase displacement of the transformer is determined.

Abstract: A cover assembly for attaching to an electrical box includes a base plate, a body and a cover hinged to the body. The assembly is mounted to the electrical box to protect an electrical device from moisture while allowing access to the electrical device. Hinge members are provided that are inserted into a slot on a selected side of the cover and base to enable the cover assembly to be oriented in a horizontal or vertical direction with the cover being pivotally mounted along a horizontal axis.

Abstract: A lighting assembly comprising a socket member having a substantially tubular wall defining a cavity therein and a reflector having a first substantially tubular section telescopically received within the socket member side wall. The reflector includes first and second recesses in the first tubular section wherein the first recess is located at a first distance from an end of the first tubular section and the second recess is located at a second distance, greater than the first distance, from an end of the first tubular section. The lighting assembly includes a resilient or spring-biased member, such as a leaf spring, coupled to the socket member extending into the cavity wherein the socket member and reflector are adapted to be coupled together at first and second different positions with the first resilient member being receivable in the first recess in the first position and the first resilient member being receivable in the second recess in the second position.

Abstract: A mounting bracket is provided for supporting an electrical box to a support structure. The mounting bracket includes a mounting base for coupling to the electrical box, and a body member extending perpendicular to the mounting base and extending against the back wall of the electrical box. The body member includes a support member and extension member that can be folded outwardly from the back wall of the electrical box to contact an opposing wall and support the electrical box. In another embodiment, the mounting bracket includes a front plate with a central opening for receiving an electrical box and a pair of extension members that extend in a rearward direction with respect to the electrical box. The support members can include an extension member that can be folded outwardly to contact an opposing wall surface to support the electrical box.

Abstract: A male plug of a single-pole electrical connector assembly includes a non-conductive housing and a conductive contact having first and second ends disposed in the housing. The first end is adapted to receive an electrical cable and the second end is adapted to engage a corresponding female contact. An axially extending slot is formed in the contact and extends toward the first end of the contact from the second end. The slot forms first and second slotted portions of the contact. A spring disposed proximal the second end of the contact substantially prevents yielding of the first and second slotted portions of the contact and biases the first and second slotted portions radially outwardly.

Abstract: An electrical receptacle includes a front cover having a rib and a protrusion connected thereto, a back housing secured to the front cover and a tamper resistant assembly disposed between the front cover and the back housing. The tamper resistant assembly includes a slide pad member, first and second shutter members, a first spring disposed between and biasing the first and second shutter members toward closed positions thereof, and a second spring disposed between and biasing the first shutter member away from the front cover. The slide pad member is connected to the back housing. The first shutter member is slidably disposed on the slide pad member and has first and second arms extending from a first cam surface. A second shutter member is slidably disposed on the slide pad member and has a blocking body connected to a second cam surface. The first and second shutter members are movable between open and closed positions.

Abstract: An electrical receptacle includes a front cover having a rib and a protrusion connected thereto, a back housing secured to the front cover and a tamper resistant assembly disposed between the front cover and the back housing. The tamper resistant assembly includes a base member, first and second shutter members, a first spring disposed between and biasing the first and second shutter members toward closed positions thereof, and a second spring disposed between and biasing the first shutter member away from the front cover. The base member is connected to the back housing. The first shutter member is slidably disposed on the base member and has first and second arms extending from a first cam surface. A second shutter member is slidably disposed on the base member and has a blocking body connected to a second cam surface. The first and second shutter members are movable between open and closed positions.

The bypass blade is electrically connected between the first and third terminal pads when in the closed position. A first disconnect blade is pivotally connected to a second terminal pad and movable between open and closed positions. A second disconnect blade is pivotally connected to a fourth terminal pad and movable between open and closed positions. The second disconnect blade is electrically connected between the third and fourth terminal pads when in the closed position. An interrupter lever is connected to an interrupter and electrically connected to the third terminal pad. A hook ring is connected to the first and second disconnect blades. The hook ring is movable between closed and open positions.

Abstract: A contact termination member for an electrical receptacle is provided that has a base. A first spring arm is connected to the base and has a first free end. A second spring arm is connected to the base and has a second free end. The first and second free ends are adapted to engage a wire received by the contact termination member. The first and second free ends are non-parallel. The first and second spring arms engage the inserted wire to securely retain the wire within the contact termination member.

Abstract: A ballast housing has a bottom wall, a sidewall extending in a first direction from the bottom wall, and a first compartment that is defined between the bottom wall and the sidewall, with a first access opening remote from the bottom wall. The housing further includes an interior wall extending from its bottom wall in the first direction and is located completely within the first compartment, and a second compartment that is defined by the interior wall and is isolated from the first compartment by the interior wall. The second compartment includes a second access opening adjacent the bottom wall. A first component can be disposed in the first compartment and a second component can be disposed in the second compartment with the second compartment isolating the second component from the first component in the first compartment.

Abstract: A connector for a communications system provides desired levels of crosstalk by controlling the positions and lengths of the wires. The connector has an internal chamber opening on the rear end of the plug housing and defined by housing walls. A plurality of slots extend through one of the housing walls adjacent its front end and into the internal chamber. A plurality of insulation displacement contacts are mounted in the slots for movement between retracted positions and inserted positions extending into the internal chamber. A first insert is disposed in the internal chamber. The first insert has a front end proximal the front end of the plug housing. A first passageway extends from the front end of the first insert to the rear end of the first insert. A plurality of openings in a first insert wall adjacent the front end are aligned with the plurality of slots in the plug housing and extend into the first passageway.

Abstract: A cable management assembly for managing wires having a rack with a plurality of mounted channel members. The channel members each comprise a left, right, and middle member which form a Z-shaped cross section and define first and second receiving areas for holding a plurality of wires. The middle member further includes apertures such that a wire can be received concurrently in both receiving areas. The channel members are mounted on the rack by integrals clips that extend from each channel member and engage mating holes located on the rack. A second embodiment channel member includes a first member and an opposing second member each having integral clips extending therefrom for mounting the channel members on the rack. The channel member further has a middle member connecting the first and second members which form a C-shaped cross-section and define a receiving area for holding a plurality of wires.
