Patent number: 7717638Abstract: A binding mechanism assembly for binding a sheet item, the binding mechanism assembly including a backing member having an upper surface, and a binding member directly or indirectly coupled to the backing member. The binding member includes a protrusion shaped and located to protrude through a hole of a sheet item to be bound thereto. The binding member further includes a generally flexible flange that is manually movable into engagement with the protrusion to form a generally closed loop and thereby bind the sheet item thereto. The loop is rotatable relative to the backing member from a first position in which the loop is generally located above the upper surface to a second position wherein at least part of the loop is located below the upper surface. The loop is fixedly and not slidably coupled to the backing member.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2006Date of Patent: May 18, 2010Assignee: MeadWestvaco CorporationInventors: Richard H. Patent number: 7658287Abstract: A blister and package system (1) made of a blister card (3) and an outer package (5) with unique interacting locking mechanisms (23). The blister card is inserted in the outer package and locks immediately without having to further process the outer package or the blister card. The user is able to expose the blisters from the outer package by disengaging the lock. The blister card includes a formable, pliable sheet material (7), into which one or more individual cavities or blisters (9) are formed. The separated cavities are loaded with product (11) and sealed with one or more layers of puncturable or tearable sheet material, such as aluminum foil (13). The blister card contains a stop (21), which may be one or more additional cavities that form an interference mechanism, or an interference blister cavity. The interference blister is trapped by a locking mechanism and stopped by a catch flap (41) included in the outer package.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2005Date of Patent: February 9, 2010Assignee: MeadWestvaco CorporationInventor: Christopher J. Patent number: 7591372Abstract: A package has a sliding blister card and a locking sleeve made from a base and a top. The card is made from conventional blister dose packaging material, with blisters formed in a single layer plastic top holding medicaments on a sealing paper, board, or foil layer. The top and base form a closed case, open along one end. The blister card is slid into the sleeve until detent(s) engage aperture(s). Appurtenant(s) adjacent to the detent(s) urge the blister card to engage the detent(s) at the card's receiving aperture. Pressing on release disengages the card and detent by warping the card to move the aperture away from the detent so that the card may be slid through the open end of the sleeve. Reverse pressure easily slides the blister card back into the containment element without manipulation of parts.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2004Date of Patent: September 22, 2009Assignee: MeadWestvaco CorporationInventors: John A. Gelardi, Ken Bertram, Ricky N. Williams, David L. Bolognia

Patent number: 7588149Abstract: A container includes a slidable tray and a locking sleeve. The tray is a conventional blister package, with blisters formed therein. The tray includes a slot and the sleeve includes a stop that extends through the slot to prevent the tray from sliding out of the sleeve. The sleeve includes detents that engage with holes in the tray to lock the tray in multiple positions. Manipulating a biaser releases the detents from the holes, thereby allowing the tray to slide within the sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2005Date of Patent: September 15, 2009Assignee: MeadWestvaco CorporationInventor: John A.
