  • Patent number: 8293960
Abstract: Processes are provided for the production of butadiene from C4 containing feed stocks that contain isobutene and/or isobutane in addition to n-butene(s) and/or n-butane. The processes of the present invention generally comprise feeding the feed stock to a combination butenes isomerization reaction and distillation tower for conversion of 1-butene to 2-butenes and separation from isobutene and isobutane, followed by an oxydehydrogenation unit to convert n-butenes to butadiene. The processes may also include additional isomerization and/or dehydrogenation steps for the tower overhead and bottoms streams to create additional isobutene and/or n-butenes for valued uses, which may include additional production of butadiene. The feed to the system may comprise any mixture or separate feeding of C4 olefins and C4 paraffins, at least one of which contains isobutene and/or isobutane.

  • Patent number: 8256348
Abstract: A method for preparing lithographic printing plates for on-press development, including sequentially feeding the plates to an imaging station to produce a plurality of latent image reference marks allocated among at least two margins along a respective two sides of the plate, and a latent print image within the margins. The imaged plates are transported from the imaging station to a plate bending station where the short ends of the plate are bent over. Between the imaging station and the bending station, the unimaged areas of the coating in at least two of the margins are removed to reveal the reference marks without developing the latent print image. Preferably, the reference marks are revealed while the plate is temporarily aligned in landscape orientation at stop, such as at the feeder to the bending station.

  • Patent number: 8230651
Abstract: A window frame is manufactured as an integral unit comprising a frame body, at least one nailing flange secured to the frame perimeter, and a strip of tape secured to the nailing flanges with the outer portion of the tape extending beyond the outer edge of the flange. In another embodiment, individual nailing flanges are manufactured and delivered on site, including a strip of tape secured to the nailing flange with an outer portion of the tape extending beyond the outer edge of the flange. The installer first secures such pre-taped flanges to the window frame body, before nailing the resulting window frame unit to the wall. With both embodiments, the window frame unit is first fit into the window penetration in the wall, with the nailing flanges and tape overlapping the wall. Each flange is nailed to the wall by folding back the outer, unattached portion of the tape, thereby exposing the nail holes on the flange, and driving nails there though into the wall.
