Abstract: A log splitter trailer formed from an I-beam having a pair of opposing blades mounted on the top surface of the I-beam. An hydraulic cylinder is disposed between the blades for conjoint movement of a pair of rams toward respective blades. The rams slide along the top surface of the I-beam and are formed with depending portions which hook beneath the top surface for securement of the rams. The trailer axle is hollow, serving as an hydraulic reservoir.
Abstract: An improved anchor wall includes a series of vertical caissons cast in place along a line defining the boundary of the wall. Soil is executed from one side of the line and anchor rods are used to attach the caissons to the remaining soil. Discrete panels are then stacked one upon the other and attached by a reinforced concrete rib to the vertical caissons.

Abstract: A device for collecting manganese nodules or the like from the ocean floor having a frame that is drawn across the ocean floor, a cylinder rotating around a horizontal axis which has on its circumference brushes for picking up manganese nodules in the circumferential direction. A screen surrounds the rear half of the cylinder. Hook-like rods mounted on the screen terminate in prongs pointing in the traction direction for digging out manganese nodules. The bristles can be made of bronze and are in the form of ribs running in the axial direction of the cylinder. Because of the brushes, the jamming of the nodules is prevented and at the same time a cleaning action is performed on the nodules.
Abstract: In an apparatus for measuring the eccentricity of an eccentric bearing face having an axis of rotation, a rotary motion and a perimeter, the apparatus comprises a length measurement gauge, mounting means for mounting the length measurement gauge, means for guiding the movement of the length measurement gauge, in which the guiding means comprises a follower and two bearing tips, and means for applying the bearing tips to the eccentric bearing face. The mounting means for mounting the length measurement gauge functions to (a) maintain the length measurement gauge in the radical direction during rotary motion, and (b) enable the length measurement gauge to move perpendicularly to the axis of rotation. The guiding means functions to guide the movement of the length measurement gauge in the direction of the rotary motion of the eccentric bearing face.
Abstract: A bird decoy which can be assembled in either a feeder or sentry position. The decoy includes separate main body, neck, and head portions. The neck includes first and second ends. The main body engages one of the neck ends, and the head engages another of the neck ends. With the first end of the neck interconnected to the body and second end interconnected to the head, the neck curves to a lower portion to simulate a feeding goose. With the second end of the neck interconnected to the body and the first end interconnected to the head, the neck is substantially upright, to sumulate a bird in a sentry position.
Abstract: An improved pilot operated, spool valve includes a valve body with a spool that translates axially in a throughbore in the valve body. The spool is moved in response to air pressure in a first direction and is moved in the opposite direction by a combination of a mechanical biasing force and fluid pressure.
Abstract: A power maximizing circuit for a stepper motor employing a switching regulator that conducts current to a variable voltage supply until a predetermined voltage is attained. The predetermined voltage is varied to achieve resonance compensation.
Abstract: A speed control for an electric golf car providing sequential changing between a plurality of speeds such that the golf car must accelerate through fixed speeds for predetermined times prior to reaching a full speed. A foot pedal actuable by the operator controls a plurality of magnetic reed switches. The reed switches in turn control a timing circuit for generating a plurality of motor drive signals in succession at predetermined times. The motor drive signals actuate relay coils for applying power to the golf car motor.
Abstract: A large area, digital radiography apparatus in which a prescatter and a postscatter collimator are moved simultaneously with an x-ray image intensifier tube whose output display is scanned by a stationary scanning camera to produce a digitized x-ray image over a large cross-sectional area of the patient.
Abstract: The invention relates to a container for holding flatware and dishes for use in serving meals on board an aircraft, for example, comprising a rectangular tray-shaped sectioned bottom member hinged to a cover member to form an integral case. To permit dishes holding food, particularly hot meals, to be removed from the closed container and reinserted into it, the container is provided with an opening in a side wall.
Abstract: A pipe worm comprises radially inflatable toroids spaced along an axially inflatable tubular body. The worm inches through piping through sequential inflation and deflation of the toroids and tubular body. The worm includes a fluid supply source, pipe maintenance instrumentation and automatic, semiautomatic or manual controls which are remote, on-board or trailered, as desired. The worm is inexpensive, reliable, capable of turning 90 degree corners, and further uniquely advantageous.

Abstract: An ultrasonic welding apparatus for electrical conductors comprising strands of wire comprising a sonotrode for generating ultrasonic vibrations and a cooperating anvil having movable side walls to compress the wire strands against the head of the sonotrode. The anvil has two moving parts, one moving back and forth parallel to the fixed sonotrode face, and the other moving up and down normal to the fixed face. The moving parts carry the side walls of the anvil and with the fixed face provide an adjustable space for wires of various sizes, the space having a rectangular cross section. The gap between the moving anvil parts and the adjacent fixed face of the sonotrode are accurately controlled.
Abstract: An electrical film resistor. The film resistor includes a substrate, resistive film, and first and second terminals. The first terminal includes a first electrode. The second terminal includes second and third electrodes. The second electrode is close to the first electrode, and the third electrode is spaced apart from the first electrode. Moreover, the second and third electrodes are electrically interconnected. A kerf may be cut in the resistive material to increase the resistance between the two terminals and eventually substantially electrically isolate the second electrode from the first terminal. Thereafter, kerfs may be cut in the resistive material between first and third electrodes to further increase the resistance between the two terminals.
Abstract: A tool holder for holding a T-shaped tool which includes a tool head receiving member and a tool tail receiving member. The tool head receiving member includes an opening with a continuous surface for engaging the tool head at spaced apart points of contact for control of the tool during any jostling movement thereof. The tool tail receiving member includes a U-shaped inner surface disposed for guiding the tool head into engagement with the tool receiving member. The tool head receiving member and tool tail receiving member are spaced apart a distance for receiving the handle of the tool.
