  • Patent number: 6771821
Abstract: This invention is directed to the transferring of information in two-dimensional form. The form may be an image or may be printed word. The information is converted to a digital bit map. The bit map information is compressed by any compression technique (JPEG, MPEG, WAVELET, FRACTAL, etc.) and at the same time a first forward error-correcting code is generated of the bit map. The compressed information and the first forward error-correction code is formed into a data packet. These packets are transmitted with a second forward error-correcting code of the packet in order to correct any transmission errors. After correcting any transmission errors found at the receiving end as a result of the second forward error correction code, the data stream is decompressed, and an image bit map is regenerated. The first forward error-correction code is applied, and the bit map is corrected.

  • Patent number: 6675812
Abstract: The dispenser has its internal fluid space fed from a reservoir. The face of the dispenser has dispensing openings and, around the dispensing openings are fingers, bristles or sponge which aid in distributing the dispensed fluid. The dispenser is particularly useful in the application of health and beauty fluid s to the hair because the fingers, bristles or sponge can distribute the fluid in the hair or on other surfaces. The dispenser head preferably also has comb teeth or brush thereon so that, as part of the process, the hair can be combed or brushed.

  • Patent number: 6665946
Abstract: The machine alignment system comprises a master alignment plate having parallel faces. The alignment plate is mounted on a spindle in place of a saw blade to define the plane perpendicular to the spindle axis. The saw table surface is adjusted to be at a right angle with respect to the alignment plate, and the miter slot is adjusted to be parallel to the alignment plate. Parallelism is achieved by use of a slide bar in the miter slot and a dial indicator on the side bar to measure parallelism of the miter slot with respect to the master alignment plate. The slide bar is of adjustable width so that it can be adjusted to slide in the miter slot without slack. The fence and miter gage can each be adjusted using the master alignment plate as the reference.

  • Patent number: 6637988
Abstract: The pocket drilling fixture has a clamp base with a clamp face thereon. Opposing it is a clamp body with an opposing clamp face. Clamp structure, including a clamp arm on the base urges the faces together to clamp over a workpiece therebetween in a clamping direction. A guide carrier is mounted on the base to move in the direction at a right angle to the clamping direction. The base has a turret thereon with stops which can be positioned beneath the guide carrier to set its height above the base so that height can be preselected, depending on the workpiece thickness.

  • Patent number: 6594913
Abstract: The protractor has a body which has three reference surfaces, two being parallel and one being at right angles to them. A web between the surfaces carries a protractor dial which is rotatable on the protractor body. The dial carries a reference surface and can be set in position by means of a visual indicia, by sine measurement, or by memory links. Great accuracy can be achieved by use of the sine measurement.

  • Patent number: 6508398
Abstract: An ATM enhancement computer is connected to the ATM computer to detect ATM activity in the ATM machine. A switch is connected between the ATM computer and its monitor and printer. When the switch is in its fail-safe first position, the monitor and printer are controlled by the ATM computer. When there is no ATM activity, the ATM enhancement computer actuates its switch to its second position wherein the monitor and printer are controlled by the ATM enhancement computer to provide displays and printed output. That output can be updated by connecting the ATM enhancement computer to a remote enhancement host. The ATM enhancement computer also has an audio output.

  • Patent number: 6485443
Abstract: Massage pressure devices are fitted onto a chair which has a rocking back, either conventional rocking chair or an office chair with pivoted an spring-loaded back, so that massage is applied to the back of a person seated in and rocking the chair. The massage pressure devices are rollers or pads which are mounted so that the amount of massage pressure and the position of the massage pressure are adjustable in accordance with the user's desires. The massage pressure drive mechanism includes a reference to the base so that the massage pressure devices are driven up and down the chair back as the chair back rocks back and forth. In a conventional rocking chair, the truck carrying the massage pressure rollers is adjustable in both pressure of the devices against the back and the position thereof.

  • Patent number: 6363655
Abstract: The young tree support comprises a flexible polymer tube having its end staked by a first stake close to the tree. The flexible polymer tube is wound up the tree to a point between one-third and one-half the distance up the trunk of the tree. From that point, the second end of the tube is pulled to the windward. The second end of the tube has a spring by which the second end is connected to a second stake driven into the ground so that the second end is resiliently connected to the second stake. This provides adequate support for a young tree to permit flexure of the trunk during early growth.

  • Patent number: 6321647
Abstract: The novelty perforating machine perforates paper, such as paper money and similar paper or paperlike sheet material, in a manner that the original purpose of the paper is not lost, but when it is held to the light, a light pattern representing the novelty is seen. Thus, a paper money bill can be perforated with a selected pattern to form a novelty item, such as an outline picture of the area in which the perforating machine is situatuated.

  • Patent number: 6244776
Abstract: The applicators for health and beauty fluid materials (or products) have an elongated reservoir with a dispenser head at one end and a telescoping extender thereon. When extended, the telescoping extender increases the length between the manual grasp and the dispenser head for application of the fluid material onto hard to reach body surface areas. The dispensing head lies at an acute angle to the handle length axis. The dispenser head has a rolling member and a cap which presses the rolling member down to close the dispensing opening through the dispenser head. The rolling member may be a roller, a cone or one or more spheres.

  • Patent number: 6173725
Abstract: A canopy is formed of an oval flexible sheet of solar radiation and wind resistant material held in extended position by a resilient band and sized so that the band and sheet material are pulled into a saddle shape. Support for the canopy is provided by two flexible supports attached to the canopy at its edges and to a base structure, such as a wheel chair, stroller, patio rail or lawn chair. The supports are long enough so that the canopy can be adjusted to various positions above and alongside the occupant of the base structure for overhead and lateral shelter. The supports are nonresilient and are stiff enough to hold the canopy in the selected position into which it is placed.

  • Patent number: 6165059
Abstract: The hard coated abrasive medium is formed by providing a hollow body with abrasive deposit on the outer surface. The buoyancy is provided by the enclosed air space, and the weight is defined by the weight of the body plus the hard plating or the abrasive grit deposited thereon. The density is selected in accordance to the character of the workpiece with which it is to be used in order to optimize the abrading action by interacting with the workpiece in the optimum fashion. In one embodiment, the abrasive grit is bonded to the exterior surface of the abrasive medium in a spiral shape to accelerate the abrading action.
