Abstract: A system for testing a communications device includes a portable wireless communications device comprising a transmitter for transmitting an RF signal. A monitoring device receives the RF signals from the portable wireless communications device and analyzes the RF signals to determine total radiated power emitted from the transmitter. An adaptive antenna equivalent circuit is coupled to the transmitter. A connection line extends between the adaptive antenna equivalent circuit and the monitoring device. The adaptive antenna equivalent circuit has an equivalent antenna impedance matched to the portable wireless communications device and the connection line and monitoring device based on transmit frequency to ensure that total radiated power of the RF signals is transmitted from the transmitter to the monitoring device.

Abstract: An embodiment of a water retention and distribution system for use in an underground installation comprises at least one layer of at least one pipe with at least one hole therein. The at least one layer may be fluidly connected to a water source and a means for distribution. A water impermeable cover encloses the at least one layer. Water in the at least one layer may be distributed into the ground through a vertical pipe that includes a divider that separates the vertical pipe into first and second halves for controlling the flow of water into the means for distribution.
Abstract: A mobile wireless communications device includes a housing and circuit board carried by the housing and includes radio frequency (RF) circuitry and a processor carried by the circuit board and operative with each other. A display connector for an LCD connector is mounted on the circuit board and adapted to be connected to a display. Display connection lines are carried by the circuit board and interconnect the display connector and processor for carrying signals from the processor to the display connector and a connected display. Filters are carried by the circuit board and connected to the display connection lines and reduce any interfering energy from the processor and display.

Abstract: A communications device includes a signal input that receives an orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) communications signal. A demodulator is connected to the signal input for receiving the OFDM communications signal and demodulating the OFDM communication signal. It includes at least one memory element for storing the at least one sine/cosine basis waveform approximation as complex exponential functions. A logic circuit performs logical shifts in additions and multiples of +/?2n and extracts amplitude and phase values from a plurality of N data subcarriers within the OFDM communications signal. The demodulator includes efficient implementation of the FFT for use as an OFDM demodulator where the complex exponentials are approximated by multi-level complex sinusoids and optionally oversampled to increase SNR of the FFT output.

Abstract: A geospatial modeling system includes a display, a geospatial database, and a processor. The processor generates a model based upon a single optical image and a digital elevation model (DEM), and without registration of multiple optical images. The processor also generates time-lapsed models based upon single time-lapsed optical images and the DEM, and without registration of multiple time-lapsed optical images. Regions of interest are user selected from the time-lapsed models, and are displayed along with the model.
Abstract: A method includes a main interference reduction mode for reducing the interference generated by a wideband device toward a narrowband device. The main interference reduction mode is performed within the wideband device and includes at least one of detecting an emission from and a reception performed by the narrowband device. A group of at least one sub-carrier having frequencies interfering with frequencies used by the narrowband device is determined from the detection step. The bits of the punctured stream that correspond to the information carried by the interfering sub-carriers of the group are determined and processed so that the processed bits are mapped into a reference symbol having an amplitude within a threshold of zero.
Abstract: A method and a circuit may have an ability to provide constant currents of a certain set value, the rising and falling edges of which may be shorter than the design minimum on-phase. Essentially, these results may be obtained by keeping an operational amplifier that controls the output power switch in an active state during off-phases of an impulsive drive signal received by the current source circuit in order to maintain the output voltage of the operational amplifier at or just below the voltage to be applied to the control terminal of the output power switch during a successive on-phase of a received drive pulse signal.
Abstract: An integrated circuit for a smart card in accordance with an exemplary embodiment includes at least one data terminal for providing communications with a host device over a system bus and a processor configured to provide an attachment signal on the at least one data terminal for recognition by the host device. Further, the processor also cooperates with the host device to perform an enumeration based upon at least one default descriptor, and receive information from the host device regarding a system event. Abstract: A repeatable optical waveguide interconnection may include first and second optical waveguides having respective first and second end faces. Each of the first and second optical waveguides may include a core having a core index of refraction, and a cladding surrounding the core and having a cladding index of refraction different than the core index of refraction. The interconnection may further include a first index matching elastomeric solid layer having a proximal face coupled to the first end face, and a distal face opposite the proximal face to be repeatably optically coupled to the second end face. The first index matching elastomeric solid layer may have an index of refraction profile matching an index of refraction of the core and the cladding.

Abstract: A contact detector having power switches for disconnecting power to portions of the contact sensor when an over current is detected is disclosed. The power switches thus protect the contact sensor from over-current as the result of latch-up or other current-generating conditions. These current-generating conditions are often the result of ESD events on a surface of the contact detector. A contact detector comprises an exposed surface for detecting the presence of an object, an insulating surface, and a protection element disposed under the insulating surface for controlling power to the contact detector. The protection element is configured to disconnect power to the contact detector when a current to the contact detector is detected above a threshold. Preferably, the contact detector is a finger swipe sensor, but it can be a finger placement sensor or any other type of device that functions on contact with a finger or other patterned object.

Abstract: A filter for reducing co-channel interference within a communications receiver may include a multi-channel, space-time filter circuit that filters n signal parts that have been split from a communications signal by jointly estimating space-time filter weights and multi-channel impulse responses (CIRs). The filter may further include a multi-channel, matched filter circuit that receives multi-channel signals from the multi-channel, space-time filter circuit and has a filter response that is provided by a channel impulse response estimation from the space-time filter circuit.
Abstract: A system and method of the present invention creates a security application for a programmable cryptography module, which includes a security policy software module and mirror security policy data structures. A processor determines a security policy for an implementation specific application as a set of rules governing cryptographic security policy functions of the security policy software module. The processor is operative for generating a binary security policy file representative of the security policy and comparing the binary security policy file with the mirror security policy data structures to determine a violation of the security policy or a successful comparison.
