Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are devices for assisting users in the management of blood glucose concentration levels in patients. Devices of the invention provide users with detailed information related to the pharmacodynamic behavior of insulin in a patient. By displaying and accepting information concerning time-dependent rates and amounts of pharmacodynamic insulin unit equivalents, the devices of the invention empower the user to make effective decisions regarding insulin dosing.
Abstract: A game or puzzle including a plurality of polyomino assembly pieces and a support base. The support base aids the user in visualizing the shape of the puzzle to be assembled and provides support to the assembly pieces during puzzle assembly.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a new system and methods for monitoring blood glucose concentration. A user of a continuous glucose monitor may program upper and lower blood glucose notification thresholds to fluctuate over time in order to facilitate management of the short-term effects of food consumption, insulin delivery aberrations, physical activity, emotions, and unforeseen circumstances.
Abstract: A visually enhanced text and methods of production are described. The visually enhanced teaching text comprises a first and at least one additional text. The first text is displayed in horizontal lines. The at least one additional text displayed interlinearly with the first text and passages in the at least one additional text that correspond with passages in a first text are placed vertically adjacent passages in the first text. Gaps are formed in the first text when the noncorresponding text in the at least one additional text is longer than the noncorresponding text in a first text. Multiple copies of identical symbols are replaced with a single copy in a different font when the symbols are vertically adjacent within corresponding text passages.
Abstract: Processes for preparing compounds of formula I are disclosed comprising the steps of: (a) forming of chiral propionic acid ester compounds of formula V. (b) reacting compounds of formula V with aniline compounds to yield compounds of formula I.
Abstract: An elastic body armor carrier vest is described. Embodiments of the invention are comprised of a front portion contain at least two pouches adapted to carry ballistic armor and/or trauma plates, and a rear portion comprising at least one pouch adapted to carry ballistic armor and/or trauma plates. Embodiments of the invention are comprised of elastic fabric to provide a cooler, better fitting garment, that holds ballistic armor inserts and trauma plates securely in position, enhancing the comfort and security of the wearer.
Abstract: A pet litter containment and cleaning system and methods of using a pet litter containment and cleaning system are described. The pet litter system comprises a pan module and removably attached processor module. Soiled pet litter is conveniently processed by rotating a system of the invention, screening and separating soiled litter from clean litter. Pet waste and soiled litter are collected in bags which may be discarded when full. Systems of the invention may be used with both absorbent and nonabsorbent litters. Systems of the invention minimize human contact with soiled pet litter and pet waste and simplify the care of domestic pets.
Abstract: A method and means of identifying nucleic acid oligomers is disclosed. A sample is split into parts and the parts are flowed through chromatography columns containing nucleic acid oligomer probes bound to a binding medium. Analyte oligomers are transiently hybridized to complementary probe oligomers during chromatography. Detection and analysis of oligomer peaks is used to identify the oligomers contained in the sample.
