Abstract: Novel methods of determining efficacy of a treatment of inflammatory diseases of the bowel in mammals are provided. The methods are of use in screening and determining the efficacy of treatments of inflammatory diseases of the bowel, and for determining the efficacy response of individual sufferers of inflammatory diseases of the bowel to a given regime. Kits for carrying out the method are also provided.

Abstract: A process for making an embossed web. A precursor web is provided between a forming structure and a compliant substrate. The forming structure has a plurality of discrete protruded elements and lands completely surrounding them. Pressure is provided between the compliant substrate and the forming structure to conform the precursor web to the forming structure to form the embossed web. The resulting embossed web has a plurality of discrete extended elements completely surrounded by land areas.
Abstract: A method of making a filter material for producing potable water comprises providing activated carbon particles, depositing one or more nanofilament precursors at least partially onto the surface of the activated carbon particles, agitating the activated carbon particles and deposited nanofilament precursors in the presence of carbonaceous vapor, and heating the activated carbon particles and the deposited nanofilament precursors in the presence of carbonaceous vapor at a temperature and time sufficient to produce the filter material comprising activated carbon particles having carbon nanofilaments on the surface of the particles.

Abstract: A package including a container having a layer with an interior surface and an exterior surface. The layer forms an interior space. The container includes a window on only a portion of the exterior surface. The container contains within the interior space one or more absorbent articles each having substantially the same absorbent capacity. Each absorbent article is individually wrapped in a wrapper. The exterior surface of the container has a signal color corresponding to the absorbent capacity, and each of the wrappers has a substantially similar signal color in the form of a design. In addition, only a portion of the wrapper can be viewed through the window.

Abstract: An absorbent article for wearing in an undergarment. The absorbent article can include a nonwoven. The nonwoven can have a nonwoven body facing surface. The nonwoven can have a main body portion and pair of spaced apart flaps associated with the main body portion. Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for recommending a disposable incontinence device to be used by an incontinent person. The method comprises the steps of: (a) receiving information, from a user, about incontinence devices which are currently used by the incontinent person; (b) receiving information about the situation which is experienced by the user; and (c) selecting at least one device, based on the information received, among predetermined disposable incontinence devices. By this method, an appropriate disposable incontinence device(s) to be used are recommended depending on the user's situation. The present invention is also directed a method for evaluating the quality of life of a caregiver who takes care of an incontinent person.
Abstract: Disclosed are compositions comprising an inner core and at least two surrounding layers. The compositions are suitable for use in humans and other mammals, particularly wherein a component of the inner core is susceptible to moisture. The compositions comprise an inner core comprising one or more components; an inner layer which surrounds the inner core, wherein the inner layer is selected from continuous coatings insoluble at a pH of about 3 or less, continuous coatings having a coating weight of from about 3 mg/cm2, and combinations thereof; and an outer layer which surrounds the inner layer, wherein the outer layer is hydrophobic.
