  • Patent number: 7485608
Abstract: A composition with improved chemical stability and increased the efficacy as an alkylene carbonate-containing nail polish remover or general purpose solvent, such as a paint thinner or stripper is disclosed. The composition includes: (i) between 10% and 98% by weight of at least one alkylene carbonate solvent, (ii) between 1.5% and 25% by weight water, and (iii) an effective amount of a pH-buffering agent that maintains the pH of the composition between approximately pH 2 and pH 6.5 and that is chemically inert in the composition. The water in the composition functions to increase the rate at which the composition dissolves, e.g., nail lacquers, and the pH-buffering agent functions to stabilize the alkylene carbonate solvent against hydrolytic decomposition from pH-altering contaminants that may be introduced into the composition.

  • Patent number: 7174656
Abstract: A tape measure system for efficiently marking a measured object. The tape measure system includes a housing with a recoil unit containing a length of a tape measure, a dispensing neck extending from the housing for guiding and dispensing the tape measure, and wherein the dispensing neck includes a guide edge for marking a surface of a measured object. A pair of teeth extend from the dispensing neck for selectively engaging and marking the surface of the measured object. The dispensing neck includes a recessed portion exposing a portion of the tape measure for allowing frictional engagement of the tape measure by the user.

  • Patent number: 7018131
Abstract: Self-contained solar-powered long-life intelligent illuminated road markers are provided comprising a one-piece housing formed of optionally colored plastic capable of transmitting light. Light is reflected by reflective coating or generated internally by LED which is powered by a long life battery, the charging of which is controlled by electrical circuitry which comprises a peripheral interface controller. The electrical circuitry provides intelligent control for a variety of modes corresponding to diverse driving conditions, and can enter a low-power sleep mode to conserve battery life.
