  • Patent number: 7492981
Abstract: In an LSI system, a short optical pulse train is guided to an optical divider which divides the short optical pulse train into first and second short optical pulse trains. A retardation of ½ of the pulse period is produced between the first and second short optical pulse trains. The first and second short optical pulse trains are guided to first and second photodiodes on an LSI chip and are converted in the first and second electric current pulse trains, respectively. The first and second electric current pulse trains are supplied to an electrical clock output terminal electrically connected to the first and second photodiodes so that the electrical clock output terminals generates an electric clock pulse.

  • Patent number: 7493083
Abstract: System(s) and method(s) to automatically locate and/or connect to external devices is provided. A mobile computing device contains a mobility device assistant that is able to communicate with external devices, such as peripheral equipment and other devices. The mobility device assistant automatically searches via a wireless media to locate and communicate with the external device. The external device responds with relevant information about the external device. The external device can also communicate with the mobility device assistant via a proxy communication device or manager. The proxy manager maintains a database of information about those external devices that are unable to communicate. The mobility device assistant is configurable to locate and/or filter for specific external devices. The mobility device assistant can request external device information based upon an inferred state of the user or mobile computing device.

  • Patent number: 7490106
Abstract: The subject invention pertains to interaction with multidimensional data. More specifically, interactions can be constrained to a limited subset of a multidimensional data cube, namely a subcube. Subsequent to or concurrently with subcube creation, query execution or other interactions such as calculations can be consolidated or restricted to the smaller subcube query space rather than the typically enormous main cube. Multiple subcubes can also be created and nested to gradually reduce the query space. Deletion of one subcube can cause a reversion back to a previously defined or hierarchical parent subcube.

  • Patent number: 7490075
Abstract: The subject invention leverages scaleable itemsets and/or association rules to provide dynamic adjustment of memory usage. This allows the subject invention to provide association rules and/or itemsets with the highest support while utilizing a bounded amount of memory. Thus, a data analysis system and/or method utilizing the subject invention can self-adjust to provide the best association rules and/or itemsets based on available system resources. One instance of the subject invention employs dynamically adjustable minimum support values for data itemsets and/or association rules to facilitate in compensating for memory availability. In yet another instance of the subject invention a prefix tree data structure is utilized to facilitate in constructing itemsets. Memory utilization is then adjusted via pruning and/or reallocation of counter vectors and/or pointer vectors and/or reallocation of nodes of the prefix tree data structure for scaleable data itemsets and/or association rules.

  • Patent number: 7489746
Abstract: A MIMO receiver is provided with a preprocessor for performing QR decomposition of a channel matrix H wherein the factored reduced matrix R is used in place of H and Q*y is used in place of the received vector y in a maximum likelihood detector (“MLD”). The maximum likelihood detector might be a hard-decision MLD or a soft-decision MLD. A savings of computational complexity can be used to provide comparable results more quickly, using less circuitry, and/or requiring less consumed energy, or performance can be improved for a fixed amount of time, circuitry and/or energy. Where the MLD uses approximations, such as finite resolution calculations (fixed point or the like) or L1 Norm approximations, the reduced number of operations resulting from using the reduced matrix results in improved approximations as a result of the finite resolution operations. Other methods of reducing the channel matrix might be used for suitable and/or cumulative advantages.

  • Patent number: 7490122
Abstract: A system and method are provided to learn and infer the time until a user will be available for communications, collaboration, or information access, given evidence about such observations as time of day, calendar, location, presence, and activity. The methods can be harnessed to coordinate communications between parties via particular modalities of interaction. The system includes a user state identifier that determines a user's state from background knowledge, the flow of time, or one or more context information sources. A data log can be employed to store information about user state changes and observational evidence to accumulate statistics and build inferential models of the availability and unavailability of users for different kinds of communication, collaboration, and information access.

  • Patent number: 7487454
Abstract: The present invention enables the management of arbitrary regions of a window. A surrogate window is created to contain a region of interest in a source window. A surrogate window may also be shared among multiple devices. A user may interact with the content in a source window or its surrogate window(s). A surrogate window is updated to reflect any content change in the region of interest in the source window. In the case that a user resizes a surrogate window, the entire content of the surrogate window is scaled accordingly so the entire content remains visible.
