Abstract: A method and apparatus for visually indicating whether a hyper-link located in a web page is linked within the current page, other pages within the same site, pages external to the current site, links that open a new browser, links that alter the content of the browser, or lines that have slow connection rates. The visual indication is either indicated by the hyper-link itself and/or a corresponding visual indicator.

Abstract: There is disclosed a method, system and program product for automatically adjusting location based system information in a mobile computer to reflect the time zone where a user of the mobile computer connects to the Internet, as a function of the geographic location of the IP address of the connection, as seen by an address server remote from the connection place. A table mapping the IP address of the computer with each other IP address where the mobile computer connects to the Internet and corresponding time zone data is constructed with minimal user interaction each time a new Internet connection is made. Thereafter, anytime the user connects to the Internet at an IP address in the table, location based system information is appropriately adjusted with no intervention by the user.

Abstract: A system for efficiently generating keys for subsequently objects during object creation and for finding and activating objects using the generated keys in an object oriented system includes one or more processors, a storage system, one or more I/O controllers, a system bus, operatively connecting the processors, the storage system and the I/O controllers, a system control program for controlling the operation of the system, and an extensible instance manager which generates keys and manages instances of objects under the control of the system control program.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program are described for isolating bus errors detected during system start-up by utilizing a technique in which a shared mailbox associated with a service processor is provided for holding the address of an adapter in an I/O drawer. If an error is detected the server processor is notified. The server processor then retrieves the address from the mailbox, uses it to derive a location code which is then passed along with the error code to an appropriate error analysis routine. The start-up procedure is then shut down.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product are provided for detecting the presence of devices, particularly hot plug devices, connected to a bus both during start-up of a computer system and while the system is running. At start-up, and periodically thereafter, all possible device connections are polled by microprocessors, called sub-bus controllers, which include logic for generating a map of components present on each bus. Each map is accessible by the master bus controller. During system run-time, periodic polling, may be continuous thereby providing a real time device status map for every available bus connection.

Abstract: A system, method and computer program are provided for maintaining time accurately and synchronously across a plurality of interconnected processors in a data processing system. Each processor has its own time base register and access to a single time delta variable. Time is reported as the sum of a processor's time base register and the time delta variable. Time base registers are set only at system initialization or boot; thereafter, any system wide time changes are effected by changing only the time delta variable value.

Abstract: A system, method and computer program are provided in an installable file system (IFS) for a network server for enabling access to and distribution of Audio CD information over a client server network by creating a virtual directory of computer audio files from Table of Contents information read in raw sector mode from an audio CD in a CD-ROM drive, which virtual audio files appear to the server's operating system as normal files stored on a convention file system.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for performing hierarchial type mask encoding and data transformation includes locating a data source, loading the data source into a temporary storage, encoding hierarchical heuristics for buffer transformation, and delivery of data for transformation and scalar type encoding, reduction, compression, iteration, type extension and versioning if required.
