  • Patent number: 8075156
Abstract: A multi-function flashlight device in one preferred embodiment comprising a housing assembly having a tubular member for gripping the device in a user's hand, a control housing coupled to the tubular member, and a lamp housing coupled to the control housing and having a light source mounted therein. The light source has an optical axis that is substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the tubular member. Batteries are housed in the tubular member. A control panel having a keypad overlay is mounted in the control housing. The keypad overlay includes a plurality of control buttons. A driver board in the control housing receives signals from the control panel and control the operation of the light source. • Patent number: 7819439
Abstract: A bore seal for connecting and sealing oil and gas tubular members is disclosed which has a metal core manufactured from a high yield strength ferrous material and a protective overlay of corrosion and abrasion resistant stainless steel and/or nickel based alloy. The protective overlay is applied to the entire outer surface of the bore seal by a metal thermal spray process, such as plasma thermal spraying. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the bore seal has a fishtail profile which facilitates the use of resilient seals to provide resistance to external pressures in addition to the traditional metal-to-metal seal between the bore seal and the tubular members. In an alternative embodiment, a pressure relief valve is disposed within the bore seal to verify the integrity of the metal-to-metal seal with respect to internal bore pressure.

  • Patent number: 7600342
Abstract: A tree stand assembly including a container defining a basin and a plurality of securement assemblies attached to the container. The securement assemblies are spaced from each other and define a space within the container for receiving the base of a tree trunk. Each securement assembly has a support member having a passageway in an upper portion thereof and a fast-acting screw assembly. Each fast-acting screw assembly includes an engager having a threaded recess portion, and a bolt having a threaded shank designed to threadedly engage the recess portion threads when the bolt extends through the passageway. The engager has a normal or biased condition allowing the bolt to slide in a first axial direction in the passageway while preventing the bolt from sliding in an opposing second axial direction.

  • Patent number: 7561760
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for steering optical frequency beams using nanowire. A method includes providing one or more nanowire waveguide arrays, generating an optical frequency beam, wherein the optical frequency beam is incident on the one or more nanowire waveguide arrays, controlling the one or more nanowire waveguide arrays to produce a phase delay in the optical frequency beam as it traverses the nanowire waveguide array, wherein the phase delay causes the optical frequency beam to deflect upon exiting the one or more nanowire waveguide arrays, and steering the optical frequency beam exiting the one or more nanowire waveguide arrays by increasing or decreasing the phase delay, wherein the angle of deflection of the exiting optical frequency beam is determined by the amount of phase delay.

  • Patent number: 7547196
Abstract: Rod Float Mitigation (RFM) methods for rod-pumped oil wells having a variable frequency drive which controls the speed of the motor for the pump. Each method monitors rod loads or a similar condition and takes action only when rod load drops below a predefined minimum load. A first method reduces the speed of the motor to a preset level. A second method fixes the torque level on the pump downstroke by adjusting motor speed based on a calculated gearbox torque compared to a programmed fixed limit. Another method includes a program in the variable frequency drive which includes a preferred RFM Torque Curve for the pump to follow on its downstroke. When rod float occurs, the program monitors gearbox torque and adjusts the speed to follow the predetermined RFM Torque Curve thereby mitigating rod float with minimum decrease in production.

  • Patent number: 7459488
Abstract: A process and polymer foam composition for removing hydrocarbon material from wanted material containing water by bringing an isocyanate-containing prepolymer and a gaseous expansion agent, with or without a diluent and/or cell control agent, into contact with the materials, allowing the composition to react with the water to form a flexible foam and removing the polymer foam obtained from the wanted material.

  • Patent number: 7375333
Abstract: A bolometer type ultra-sensitive silicon sensor pixel of a multi-pixel sensor wherein each pixel includes a detector stage, an intermediate stage, and a heat bath stage. The detector stage, the intermediate stage and a portion of the heat bath stage are generally co-planar and are interconnected by I-beam bridges so as to permit mutually co-planar rotation in response to stress and strain. Electrical coupling is improved between a micro-antenna and the detector stage by a two stage transformer assembly that couples the micro-antenna to the detector stage.

  • Patent number: 7302423
Abstract: Sort-on-the-Fly/Search-on-the-Fly data retrieval or analysis provides an intuitive mechanisms for accessing databases, allowing a user to access or obtain information about data in the database without having to know anything about the database structure. A user selects a desired term, and the method or apparatus delivers all instances of the desired term, even if a specific file or table does not contain the instance. The database need not have a specific file (in a flat database) or a table (in a relational database) of names. The user may specify other criteria, or constraints to narrow the search results, or for other reasons. The method or apparatus then conducts further analysis or searching using this criteria and produces a second result. Further narrowing or broadening of the process is permitted, with search-on-the-fly returning results based on any new constraints.

  • Patent number: 7094632
Abstract: The present invention stacks chip scale-packaged integrated circuits (CSPs) into low profile modules that conserve PWB or other board surface area. Low profile structures provide connection between CSPs of the stacked module and between and to the flex circuitry. Low profile contacts are created by any of a variety of methods and materials including, for example, screen paste techniques and use of high temperature solders, although other application techniques and traditional solders may be employed for creating low profile contacts in the present invention. A consolidated low profile contact structure and technique is provided for use in alternative embodiments of the present invention. The CSPs employed in stacked modules devised in accordance with the present invention are connected with flex circuitry. That flex circuitry may exhibit one or two or more conductive layers.

  • Patent number: 7040425
Abstract: A trailer mule vehicle with a frame, two independent drive wheels located at the rear of the frame on a common axis, two caster support wheels located at the front of the frame, and a fifth wheel plate generally centered between and positioned above the rear drive wheels. Each drive wheel is powered independently of the other and can rotate at variable speeds in either direction. The vehicle is capable of rotation about the center of the fifth wheel plate. The fifth wheel plate is mounted on an articulated arm which raises and lowers the fifth wheel plate for rapid coupling to and transportation of a semi-trailer without the need for retracting the semi-trailer's landing gear.
