  • Patent number: 4052111
Abstract: In a suspension system assembly for the resiliently biased rolling support of an endless track on a vehicle chassis, a trailing frame assembly is provided for pivotally supporting wheels mounted for rotation one behind the other in a longitudinal direction of the chassis. The wheels are resiliently urged downwardly and forwardly with respect to the vehicle against the inner surface of an endless track of a vehicle, such as a snowmobile. The system comprises a trailing frame assembly including a tubular sleeve that is pivotally attached to the vehicle chassis by means of a cylindrically shaped bearing shaft that has axial passages extending from grease fittings at the opposite bolt mounting ends of the shaft inwardly for communication with diametrically extending passages opening to the outer surface of the shaft for communicating grease for lubrication of the interface between the outer surface of the shaft and the inner surface of the tubular sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4043125
Abstract: A fluid system having a variable displacement fluid pump connected in a closed-loop fashion to a hydraulic motor-driven winch of the spool type. A directional control valve connected between the pump and motor selectively directs fluid to the hydraulic motor-operated winch to control the direction of movement thereof. The hydraulic winch is provided with a pressure responsive brake that is normally set to brake the winch and prevent its operation, while fluid under pressure communicated to the brake will release the same and permit the winch to operate. A separate source of fluid pressure is provided and selectively communicated to the hydraulic brake of the winch through a directional control valve, while a second control valve is provided for exhausting the control pressure to the reservoir in the event the main system pressure drops below a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4043127
Abstract: A closed-loop hydrostatic drive unit having a variable displacement fluid pump driven by an electric motor for generating high-pressure fluid adapted to be communicated to a fluid motor and returned to the fluid pump via a high-pressure filter. The closed-loop hydrostatic drive unit is mounted to a rectangularly-shaped reservoir housing having upper and bottom surfaces connected by side walls and end walls to define therein a chamber for the storage of fluid at a low pressure which is communicated to the fluid pump via a charge pump and suitable conduits and check valves. In a first embodiment of the invention the interior of the reservoir housing is divided by means of a partition to define the fluid-holding chamber, while the remaining portion of the reservoir housing defines a separate chamber for the mounting and storage of the high-pressure filter and/or other selected fluid power components.

  • Patent number: 4039261
Abstract: A disposable toothbrush molded from a flexible plastic material and having a brush head carried at one end of a handle. The brush head has a paste-holding cavity and a plurality of hollow bristles molded in and extending from one side of the brush head such that the interiors of the hollow bristles communicate with the paste-holding cavity. A sealing film which functions to maintain the paste within the cavity is punctured upon manual compression of the brush head, such that paste may be squeezed through the hollow bristles to the top end thereof for use. In the second embodiment of the invention the bristle head is disclosed as being separable from the handle.

  • Patent number: 4038017
Abstract: An extrusion head for the manufacture of a hollow string of thermoplastic material whereby the resulting product consists of two concentric layers of the material whose weld seams are staggered in relation to one another, and whose union is accomplished without the two materials being formed into separate tubular layers. Provisions are made to maintain the layers' ratio of wall thickness.

  • Patent number: 4037649
Abstract: A combined air-heating and refrigeration system wherein the air temperature of a living area is maintained within a predetermined range. A conventional furnace isprovided with a heat exchanger for heating air carried within ducts which communicate air from within the living space for circulation past the furnace for heating. The refrigeration portion of the system may be either of the compression or of the absorption type. In the preferred embodiment an absorption type is used and comprises a generator for heating an absorbent and a refrigerant. The heated refrigerant is communicated to a condenser to cause the refrigerant to condense, and the condensed refrigerant is then expanded by a suitable expansion valve and communicated to an evaporator wherein the refrigeration process takes place. The refrigerant is then mixed with the absorber and recirculated to the generator by means of a circulation pump.

  • Patent number: 4033431
Abstract: An acoustic crossover speaker enclosure comprising a multi-sided box having an apertured baffle supporting a horn which in conjunction with the interior of the box defines an air chamber. The horn is supported in an upright position such that the throat of the horn opens at the baffle end of the box where the front end of a driver projects into the horn throat, while the back side of the driver projects into the air chamber of the box. The horn opens at the top end of the box wherein sound waves emitted from the mouth of the horn are laterally reflected by means of a sound deflector panel. The air chamber transmits sound from the rearward side of the driver to a bass reflex port in one wall of the box such that a sound radiated from the rear of the driver may be added to the sound emitted from the front of the driver.

  • Patent number: 4033802
Abstract: A backerboard for use in conjunction with a siding panel of the type having longitudinally disposed walls connected by a longitudinal step and wherein the siding panel is normally fastened to the external wall sheathing of a building. The backerboard is adapted to be disposed between the inner surfaces of the siding panel walls and the exterior of the building sheathing. The backerboard is fabricated from two polystyrene foam plastic members that are disposed with respect to each other so as to have overlapping portions that are bonded to one another by a suitable adhesive such that the longitudinal side edge of one of the members adjacent the overlapping portions is contoured to snugly abut the step of the siding panel when the backerboard is positioned against the same. A method for manufacturing the backerboard is disclosed.
