  • Patent number: 7854414
Abstract: A cable clamp device for use in a well bore to secure cables to pipes and the like includes a flexible fastening member of relatively uniform cross-section, and a block that accepts the fastening member as it encompasses the circumference of the pipe in a loop. The cable clamp also and accepts the cable running axially along the pipe. The flexible fastening member overlaps itself, and is secured in a loop by deformation of its material. The height of the block from the surface of the pipe is greater than the height of the outer surface of the flexible fastening member and the surface of the pipe. The end surfaces of the clamp are angled with respect to the perpendicular of the pipe's surface.

  • Patent number: 7854154
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling a rolling process, in which a metal strip is rolled flat by use of at least one roller. It is known from the prior art that the relative position of a neutral point represents a measure of the instantaneous stability of a rolling process. However, traditional methods for calculating the position of the neutral point do not accurately represent the actual properties of metal and therefore have only limited usefulness for predicting the stability of a rolling process. In order to allow better control of a rolling process for rolling a metal strip with regard to the actual behavior of the metal strip, the invention proposes a new method for calculating the relative position of the neutral point, in which in particular the flat yield stress ke and the hydrostatic pressure pNH at the neutral point are incorporated.

  • Patent number: 7854155
Abstract: A method for improving the running-out of a metal rolled strip (1), the rolled trailing strip end (1a) of which exits out of a respectively last roll stand (2) of a multistand rolling mill (3) at a rolling speed, wherein during rolling between two consecutive roll stands (F1, F2, F3 . . . Fn) the strip tension (a) is adjusted to stabilize the strip position, provides that shortly before the rolled trailing strip end (1a) exits the developing rolling force differences are measured separately for each roll stand (F1, F2, F3 . . . Fn), that from this the pivot value (16) and the pivot direction are derived for forming a corrective value for the adjustment of the rolls (10, 11) and that the adjustment is corrected.

  • Patent number: 7854883
Abstract: A system for cooling a hot rail of rail steel to a fine perlitic or ferritic or perlitic/ferritic structure has a plurality of separate cooling modules with independently adjustable cooling parameters. The rail is guided downstream through the modules of the cooling stretch and through intermediate zones between the modules so as to cool the surface of the rail in each of the modules and to subject the rail to destressing or stress relief between the modules. Sensors in each of the intermediate zones detect the actual surface temperature of the rail in the respective zones, and a controller connected to the modules and to the sensors varies the cooling parameters of the cooling modules in dependence on the detected temperatures in the respective upstream zones to ensure a defined temperature in the rail that lies above a critical temperature at which bainitic structure components are formed.

  • Patent number: 7850899
Abstract: A web is made by first extruding multicomponent filaments from a spinneret and then passing the extruded filaments through a process air shaft. Cold air is directed against the filaments in the process air shaft to cool and aerodynamically stretch the filaments while excluding the entry of other air into the process air shaft. The cooled and stretched multicomponent filaments are then deposited in a mat on a support, and then the mat of multicomponent filaments to a web is consolidated by subjecting it to water jets at a pressure of 10 bar to 200 bar such that the multicomponent filaments fuse together at crossover points and the filaments have a considerable free length between crossover points where they are fused. Finally the web is heat treated to crinkle the filaments thereof and bulk of the web.
