Abstract: Nitrosamine formation in topical products is inhibited by the addition of an unsaturated hydrocarbon having at least one double bond to the composition at at least one percent by weight based on the overall composition. The preferred unsaturated hydrocarbon is squalene.
Abstract: Novel blowing agents are disclosed comprising 3,3'-carbonylbis(organo carbazates). The organo group may be alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl moieties. In the preferred embodiment the organo group is an alkyl group selected from the group consisting of methyl, isopropyl, secondary butyl or tertiary butyl. The blowing agents find utility in the preparation of expanded organoplastic materials such as rubbers, thermosetting resins and thermoplastic resins.
Abstract: Non-dripping, self-extinguishing polyurethane elastomers comprising, a hexaalkoxymethylmelamine; an organic halogen-containing a compound and a P-substituted phosphocyclopentane 1-oxide incorporated into a polyurethane elastomer.
Abstract: Tetrasubstituted organotin compounds, which are useful for controlling insects and other pests, are disclosed. Many of these organotin compounds are new compounds.

Abstract: A stabilizer suitable for use to protect organic materials into which it is soluble or miscible against oxidative degradation having the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are lower alkyl or a radical of the structure ##STR2## wherein "x" represents a tertiary butyl radical.
Abstract: This inventon relates to flame-retarded cross-linked elastomer compositions obtained from an elastomeric polyurethane prepolymer; an organic fire-retardant additive containing chlorine and/or bromine; a compound of antimony; and a hexaalkoxymethyl melamine. These new compositions are self-extinguishing as well as non-dripping.
Abstract: A dripless, fire-retarded, polyurethane elastomer comprising a blend of the elastomer with a hexaalkoxymethylmelamine, a trihydrocarbylcarbonylmelamine and compounds selected from the group comprising (1) aromatic bismaleimide or (2) an aromatic bismaleimide generator.

Abstract: A device for monitoring ethylene oxide sterilization processes comprising a wick means impregnated with an ethylene oxide responsive chemical compound, a pH sensitive dye and a quantifier mounted on a backing strip and sealed with a cover strip to form an envelope having one edge at which the wick means is exposed. The device is responsive to time, temperature and relative humidity as well as ethylene oxide concentration.
Abstract: Sulfonyl carbazates containing at least one group of:--SO.sub.2 --NHNH--COO--wherein the oxygen and the sulfur atoms attach to various organic groups are useful as high temperature blowing agents for gas-expandable polymers. Additionally, novel polyfunctional and secondary-alkyl substituted sulfonyl carbazates have been discovered.
Abstract: Hydrocarbylsulfonyl carbohydrazides of the following structural formulae are disclosed for use as blowing agents: ##STR1## The compounds wherein the R groups are alkyl are novel, as are the polymeric products.
Abstract: This invention relates to the use of bisulfite-terminated oligomers as dispersants for solid particulate matter, i.e., low molecular weight bisulfite-terminated polymers containing carboxylate groups and either cyano or carbomethoxy moieties are improved dispersants for solid particulate matter like pigments such as titanium dioxide, clay, calcium carbonate, talc, and zinc oxide, as well as for organic pigments. Particularly, these dispersants have been found useful for stabilizing paper coating compositions.
Abstract: A system for indicating the integrity of a normally sealed package utilizes a sensor containing a pH sensitive dye which displays a first color in equilibrium with normal atmospheric conditions and a second color when in equilibrium with an artificial atmosphere comprising an acidic gaseous material. When the air normally in the package is displaced by the artificial atmosphere, the pH sensitive dye assumes its second color. Loss of integrity of the sealed package results in loss of the acidic gaseous material. As a consequence, the pH sensitive dye reverts to its first color, thereby signaling the loss of package integrity.
Abstract: Certain 2-(3-pyridyl) thiazoles are useful for the control of insects, and are particularly effective against aphids. Many of these thiazoles are new compounds.

Abstract: The temperature history of a product is visually displayed as a color front on an indicator, the distance of front advancement being a function of the temperature time integral. The indicator measures the gas generation in a first compartment by a wick in a second compartment, the wick also being in communication with the first compartment. Optionally, a gas permeable film separates the gas generating material and the wick. The indicator is fine tuned for time temperature integral by incorporating into the wick a quantifier with which the gas generated reacts preferentially.
Abstract: Disclosed is a novel polybutadiene or butadiene-styrene copolymer based gum plastic having excellent impact strength and a method for its preparation. The use of small particle size (SPS) spine latex in a latex-suspension process gives unexpectedly good properties by yielding an ABS with at least about 85% of the rubber present as particles within a specified and relatively narrow size range, i.e., 0.04-0.25.mu. and having a number average particle size less than 0.14.mu.. In the method of preparation, the latex spine and monomers are converted directly to the final product by a conventional suspension process.
Abstract: High molecular weight polymers and highly unsaturated polymers (e.g. butyl rubber) are prepared by homopolymerizing and copolymerizing olefins, isoolefins, conjugated multiolefins, or mixtures of isoolefins and conjugated multiolefins with a catalyst system comprising an organoaluminum compound in conjunction with a cocatalyst selected from the group consisting of sulfur dioxide, sulfur trioxide, halogens, mixed halogens and hypohalides.
Abstract: A sterility indicator comprising a backing strip of a dimensionally stable material e.g. aluminum foil having mounted thereon an organic compound containing oxygen or nitrogen in intimate contact with a wicking means and a cover strip bonded to the backing strip overlaying the organic compound and wicking means. The cover strip is a polymeric rate controlling film which permits water vapor to pass through at a rate sufficient to make the device operative at a temperature to be monitored.
