  • Patent number: 6889525
Abstract: A ring and mounting thereon for a plurality of gemstones includes a ring formed of a pair of shanks mounted together at a common end. The pair of shanks have a through-aperture between distal ends of the pair of shanks opposite the common end. The distal ends are entirely detached from each other. A first pair of upstanding flexible lever arms, or merely hereinafter arms, bracket opposite sides of the through-aperture. Each flexible arm has a base end and an opposite free end. Each flexible arm is mounted at its base end to a corresponding distal end of the shanks. A first gemstone forms a keystone mounted in compression sandwiched between the free ends of the first pair of upstanding flexible arms. A second pair of upstanding arms are mounted at their base ends to the pair of shanks so as to be disposed, one on each shank, on opposite sides of the first pair of upstanding flexible arms. A first pair of gemstone receiving pockets or cavities.

  • Patent number: 6804539
Abstract: An interface protocol for the functional manipulation of complex devices such as personal telecommunication devices without the necessity of the visual feedback via textual or graphic data, wherein the sensor functions change with time rather than placement, so that a user action biases a binary state switch, which is correlated to a timed audible audio data stream, the correlation indicating the desired action selected by the user. The device can be embedded in a product such as a plush toy without altering the external aesthetics of the product.

  • Patent number: 6745537
Abstract: A modular wall or fence construction system includes at least first and second I-profile blocks, each having an I-shape in planform. The I-shape defines a parallel pair of flanges across opposite ends of a web extending between the flanges. The I-profile blocks have generally planar and parallel upper and lower surfaces and a uniform vertical height. Each of the flanges of the first and second I-profile blocks have radiused rib keys formed in opposite parallel edges of the flanges. The edges are distal on the flanges relative to the web. A first pair of the radiused rib keys are a pair of convex rails along the parallel edges on a first side of the web. A second pair of the radiused rib keys are a pair of concave channels along the parallel edges on a second side of the web opposite the first side of the web. Each flange has oppositely disposed, on opposite edges, one convex rail and one concave channel.

  • Patent number: 6626608
Abstract: A mobile rock crusher for crushing raw rock material which has been windrowed on a roadway in the translation path of the crusher includes a rigid supporting structure, which includes a frame, and translation means for allowing translation of the frame over the roadway. A selectively actuable scoop is pivotally mounted to the frame for selectively actuable lowering over the roadway into sliding engagement with, so as to collect, the windrowed raw rock material onto the scoop. A first conveyor is mounted to the frame. An upstream loading end of the first conveyor cooperates with the scoop for conveying the raw rock material from the scoop onto a first screen at a downstream depositing end of the first conveyor. The first screen is for screening larger diameter material from smaller diameter material in the raw rock material so that the smaller diameter material falls through the first screen.

  • Patent number: 6408772
Abstract: An in-line sub-surface seeding, fertilizing and watering system includes a blade (10) mountable into a header member (112) of a parallelogram linkage (110). A pair of parallel rigid drag arms (116, 118) extend between the header member (112) and a hanger member (114) and are pinned at their respective ends so that rotation of the header member relative to the hanger member on the parallel arms maintains a general horizontal orientation of the header member thereby supporting the blade (10) downwardly in a constant orientation. The hanger member is mountable to a supporting frame (182). A selective actuator such as a hydraulic actuator (138) or selectively controllable spring assembly (147) allows selective control of a downward force urging the blade into the soil.

  • Patent number: 6325437
Abstract: The apparatus of the present invention for selectively actuable relative movement in a first direction between a first vehicle compartment mountable or mounted to a second vehicle compartment includes a first actuator mounted to the first vehicle compartment for actuation in a second direction of a follower mounted on a distal end of the actuator. An elongate channel is mounted to the second vehicle compartment in a first plane substantially parallel to a plane containing both the first direction and the second direction. The second direction is angularly offset in the first plane from the first direction. The channel is generally diagonally offset in the first plane from the second direction. The follower is mountable or mounted in the channel for sliding engagement therealong upon actuation of the first actuator. Actuation of the first actuator causes the relative translation between the first and second vehicle compartments.

  • Patent number: 6311828
Abstract: A board positioning device selectively positions in a lateral direction in a generally horizontal plane a board translating in a longitudinal direction in the horizontal plane, wherein the board is aligned along its length in the lateral direction. The device includes a stepped fence, which may be selectively positionable, lying generally in the horizontal plane. A fence positioner cylinder may selectively position the stepped fence in the lateral direction in the horizontal plane so as to position one step of a plurality of steps on the fence to correspond to a desired transition path so as to position the end of the board at a board optimizing position as determined by an optimizer, whereby the board may be laterally, selectively positioned into an optimized position relative to trimmer saws located downstream from the stepped fence in the longitudinal direction when the board is urged laterally against the stepped fence by ending rolls.

  • Patent number: 6189151
Abstract: A headband has an outer, substantially non-resilient, elongate, flexible sleeve. The sleeve is fluid permeable and includes an elongate central portion sized to fit around a user's head in snug circumferential frictional engagement around the user's forehead and nape so as to extend therebetween. The central portion is disposed between opposite elongate end portions. A volume of a wicking fibre fill is mounted into the central portion so as to completely fill the central portion. The fibre fill is resiliently compressed within the central portion thereby forming the volume into a dense resilient, porous cushion. The wicking fibres of the fibre fill register in fluid transporting communication with an inner surface of the central portion so as to wick fluid from the inner surface along the fibres. The wicking fibres are directed inwardly of the inner surface into the volume.
