Abstract: An inside and outside corner for construction material used as siding, roofing, paneling and the like. The corner in its natural position has a diameter (depth) sufficient to accommodate siding material with an insulating backing. The corner piece has a stress yield joint for compression to a diameter (depth) to be sized to siding material with no backing material. In a first alternative embodiment, for particular adaptation to plastic siding, the yield joint further comprises interlocking means to retain the corner in position when plastic siding with no backing is utilized.

Abstract: A moisture catch basin for a toilet (combination tank and bowl) comprising a sheet of moisture-impervious material of an overall size and configuration greater than that of the outside dimensions of said tank and bowl. The front portion of the catch basin has a slant away from the bowl and rearwardly to the rear portion thereof to form a moisture evaporation bin. A gutter is formed adjacent the outer edge of said catch basin and drainage means connect the gutter to an auxiliary drain. The catch basin is of alternate structure that may comprise a dike in the basin's outer and frontal area to provide a runoff track to the moisture evaporation area. The basin is in liquid-seal contact with the lowermost portion of said toilet.

Abstract: Block-forming means or shuttering apparatus for precast units of especially long dimension along one axis, a horizontal basic frame and two block-forming or shuttering walls of which are means for at least one is guided slidably being selectively adjustable along the basic frame to change the mutual distance between the two shuttering walls, piston and cylinder assemblies 16 for driving of said sliding guided means, and clamping means 19 for clamping together one of the slidable shuttering walls and the basic frame.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for applying preformed cellular glass insulation blocks to the exterior surface of a spherical metallic storage vessel by the steps of:(a) cleaning the exterior surface of the vessel;(b) maintaining the vessel at a temperature of 80.degree.-100.degree. F.;(c)(1) beveling the side walls of a preformed cellular glass insulation block,(2) dishing the inner surface of the preformed block to correspond to the contour of the spherical vessel to which the block is to be adhered,(3) applying uncatalyzed urethane-modified asphalt adhesive stored at 35.degree.-50.degree. F.

Abstract: A hand slicer for prepared meat such as roasts, hams, and other boneless meats. The meat is positioned in a rack that has a configuration closely approximating that of the prepared meat to prevent back and forth movement as well as eliminating the use of a hand to hold the meat. The meat is advanced by a screw mechanism to a stop plate which in turn is a predetermined cutting position to control the portions of the cut. The stop also serves as a plate for receiving the cut slices and for dispensing the cut portion to another plate. The rack has an elongated slot positioned over a tray for the saving of the meat juices. A warming oven encloses the entire slicer to maintain the meat at a predetermined temperature.

Abstract: A machine for disassembling damaged pallets of the wood type. The pallet is machine disassembled in a manner wherein the undamaged deckboards or stringers may again be used in a reassembled pallet. The machine includes a hydraulically driven platform having means for receiving the manually placed pallet in an engaging position with a pair of arms each having a nail breaking free rotating disc positioned thereon. The arms straddle the stringer and when vertically positioned to the appropriate height cause the rotating discs to engage the stringers longitudinally at its nail joining point with the deckboards and baseboards. The discs are not knife sharp and slightly overlapping. Upon engagement of the rotating discs with the nails the forceful action of the hydraulically driven platform causes the hardened nails to break -- thereby severing the stringer from the deckboard. A horizontal member cross-positioned behind the discs completes the severing action on the infrequent occasions of failure by the discs.

Abstract: A system for determining the time of ovulation in females including a probe which measures the body temperature and a probe which measures body potential of a female subject, an electronic amplification circuit and an indicating device which is capable of measuring small changes in temperature and body potential of the subject thereby providing a portable and convenient device for determining time of ovulation.

Abstract: An optical triangulation gauging system utilizing the position of a scanned laser beam to determine the position of an unknown surface or material thickness by optical triangulation. The scanned laser beam is split into two components by a beam splitter, one component, the reference beam, is passed through a calibration reticle having alternate opaque and transparent bands. The alternate transmission and occultation of the beam viewed through the reticle is used to generate calibration pulses that accurately describe the location of the gauging beam. The gauging component of the scanned beam is projected on to the surface to be measured. The back scattered light from this surface is viewed at a given angle, through a lens system that focuses the light onto a split photo detector. The position of the reference beam is interrogated as the scan beam image passes from one side of the split detector to the other.

Abstract: An interactive display having an array of independently labelled display elements such as LEDs. The output of a recirculating shift register is supplied as long or short pulses which are scanned across the array. Each element in response emits either long flashes and appears lit or short flashes and appears unlit. A light-pen, when pointed at an element, detects the flash from that element, and causes a bit of the opposite sense to be introduced into the shift register in place of the recirculated bit. The display state of each element can thus be changed, both from lit to unlit or vice versa. The contents of the shift register can also be transferred to exterior equipment or supplied by it, allowing the display to act as an input/out device.

Abstract: Apparatus for reducing the possibility of wrinkling arising during the feed of multi-layer strip material along a feed path including a change of direction, the apparatus including a rotatable paddle-like paper guide having blades which successively engage the inner layer of the strip material in such manner that any excess material which would contribute to the formation of the wrinkles is accommodated in the space defined between adjacent blades.

Abstract: A new, improved, and inexpensive method and mixture of cements for the manufacture of imitation stone used for the purpose of decorating the object or surface upon which it is applied for giving it the appearance of being made of real stone.

Abstract: A template for positioning electrical outlet and switch boxes for attachment to a stud in a new construction. An elongated flat plate has a series of vertical notches formed therein on either side, one of each representing the standard height for a wall outlet box, utility outlet box, thermostat, and switch box. The template includes guide means to straddle the conventional 2 .times. 4 stud. Vertically positioned across the lower and upper portion of each notch is a cross plate secured thereto a distance adjustable to 1/8 inch, 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch, or 5/8 inch to act as a horizontal depth finder for securing the box.

Abstract: A scaffolding assembly for use particularly in the construction of large holding tanks and which incorporates a novel construction and method of being raised from one level to another, the device including a series of scaffold sections made of aluminum and steel, the sections being pivotally attached together to conform to the tank contour, each section having brackets secured therebeneath that fit into bracket straps welded to the tank wall; the entire assembly being raised together on sky climbers in which all hoists are controlled by a single switch so to lift the assembly all together from an old set of straps to a new set thereabove.

Abstract: There is disclosed an area navigation system including signal averaging and lag compensation circuits to overcome VOR signal propagation instabilities and a meter sensitivity control circuit which decreases the sensitivity of a track angle deviation left-right needle display as the aircraft approaches a waypoint. Means are also provided for digitally displaying the aircraft bearing to the waypoint.

Abstract: A multiprocessor data processing system comprises a plurality of processing modules interconnected by a mains data highway. Each module contains an internal highway connected to main highway by means of a port unit, which monitors activity on the internal highway and reproduces on to the main highway any addresses which do not evoke any response on the internal highway. The invention has particular application for constructing flexible systems from large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) technology.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for shelling vegetable peas and separating the hulls from the pea, in which the method and apparatus includes a tumbler and agitator for displacing the pea from the hull, agitator which shells the peas, and a separator of novel design and function for separating the hulls therefrom.

Abstract: A data processing system is described in which a plurality of microprogram address registers are provided, some of the registers being associated with operations involving a processor and others of the registers being associated with peripheral devices. Each register corresponds to a different level of microprogram interrupt and the registers associated with processor operations correspond to levels lower than the levels associated with the peripheral devices.

Abstract: This invention is an apparatus for the separation of liquid such as serum or plasma from centrifugated solid particles such as red cells, and for the separation of the liquid into containers for use in an auto-analyzer, and/or storage as well as preservation and distribution of the remainder of the separated liquid samples into other containers.A single component device is utilized for the separation and distribution of the upper layer of the liquid prepared by centrifugal motion. The apparatus comprises a flexible tubing, a stopper and a capillary tube passing through the system. There is provided the means for the storage of the remainder of liquid, after the adequate amount of samples are obtained and placed in containers for use in an auto-analyzer, and for the easy distribution or transfer of the liquid in the main tube, into other tubes or containers without the need of other apparatus. Several embodiments are illustrated.

In this manner only one unit is open and all others are closed and protected from having their respective contents spilled out, mixed-up, or otherwise disturbed, by means of a transparent Plexiglass lid or cover disposed over the respective trays in hinged relation thereto.

Abstract: A multi layer printed circuit interconnection system together with pillars for mounting integrated circuit components is progressively formed layer by layer by successive sequences for each layer, involving using a photo resist to produce a pattern of apertures defining circuit tracks and the pillar positions, depositing metal to form the tracks and the pillars and replacing the remainder of the resist with insulation material. Openings co-operating with the pillars, for the circuit elements are produced during formation of the outermost insulation layer of the circuit system.The circuit elements are mounted on the pillars and the connections between the elements and the printed circuit system are formed by using a further one of said sequences.
