  • Patent number: 5383519
Abstract: An apparatus for rotating a tubing string of a pumping wellhead is described which includes a housing having a first end, a second end, and an interior. The first end has a stationary external coupling communicating with the interior. The second end is adapted for attachment to a wellhead. A drive assembly is disposed in the interior. The drive assembly includes a rotatable tubular member having a first end and a second end. The first end of the tubular member is disposed within the interior of the housing in fluid communication with the stationary external coupling. The second end of the tubular member extends past the second end of the housing thereby providing a rotatable coupling engagable with a tubing string. The drive assembly rotates the tubular member. Bearings are disposed between the tubular member and the interior of the housing thereby facilitating rotation of the tubular member. Dynamic seals are disposed between the tubular member and the interior of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5379670
Abstract: A guide for a mitre saw is described which includes a base having a face with a first side edge, a second side edge, a first edge and a second edge. A guide member is pivotally mounted to the face of the base. The guide member can be locked to the base in a preselected angular position. A telescopic member is secured to the guide member for co-axial telescopic movement. The telescopic member has a mounting pin. A ruler having an elongate mounting slot is telescopically received on the mounting pin. The ruler is movable relative to the mounting pin toward the first side edge and the second side edge of the base within limits defined by the elongate mounting slot. The ruler can be locked to the telescopic member such that the positioning of the telescopic member determines the position of the ruler relative to the first edge and the second edge of the base.

  • Patent number: 5369931
Abstract: A frame for a louver holds the louver below the ceiling surface, away from a light fixture. This helps to collimate the light rays and direct the light downward, thus preventing unwanted sideways glare. In addition, the use of a frame tends to hold the louver more securely in the ceiling framework. The frame is formed of Z-shaped members, with one arm of the Z resting on the T-bar cross-bar and the other arm supporting the louver. A stop along one side of the frame prevents movement of the louver in the frame. In one aspect of the invention, rotatable angle supports at the ends of the frame rotate from a vertical position for use during louver installation to a horizontal supporting position for supporting the louver in the frame.

  • Patent number: 5370266
Abstract: A method of reducing spillage when pouring liquid out of a container which includes the following steps. Firstly, place a free floating buoyant member into a resilient deformable container adapted for containing liquid. The liquid must be of greater density than the density of the member such that the member floats upon the surface of the liquid. The container has a fluid flow passage narrower than the dimensions of the member such that the member is prevented from exiting through the fluid flow passage. Secondly, exert a force to temporarily deform the container thereby reducing the volume of the inner cavity and causing the liquid in the container to press the member into a position sealing the fluid flow passage. Thirdly, invert the container thereby placing the container into a pouring position.

  • Patent number: 5365189
Abstract: A composite amplifier includes a discrete active gain element with a feedback circuit that provides for low drift and low offset, but which also has low noise, short settling time and high bandwidth. This is accomplished in part by providing an attenuator in the feedback circuit and by providing a voltage source for the source of the discrete active gain element. The feedback circuit is connected between the gate and the source of the active gain element and is responsive to a change in voltage at the gate to supply a voltage of equal but opposite magnitude to the source. The source has an impedance whose Johnson noise is less than the noise of the active gain element. A differential amplifier in the feedback is constructed in multiple stages with a first stage having lower gain than a second stage.

  • Patent number: 5359838
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the direction of a crop discharge spout on an agricultural machine with respect to an associated collector vehicle. The discharge spout has a stationary first section, a second section rotatable relative to the first section and a third section rotatable relative to the second section. The first section and the second section are rotatably connected at a lower joint; the second section and the third section are rotatably connected at an upper joint. A telescopic member extends between a drawbar on a collector vehicle and the second section. The second section of the discharge spout rotates about the lower joint in unison with the drawbar to maintain spout positioning relative to the collector vehicle. The third section moves with the second section. The telescopic member telescopically extends and retracts in response to downward and upward deflections of the drawbar. A drive motor is provided between the second section and the third section.
