Abstract: Disclosed is a pump for controllably dispensing an additive into a stream of liquid and mixing therewith, the pump comprising: a pump body having a passage into which a liquid stream is introduced, and from which a combination mixture of the additive and the liquid stream is discharged; a turbine supported for rotation within the passage, the incoming liquid stream striking the turbine in a manner as to impart rotation thereon; an auger housing connected to the pump body, and having an entrance end into which an additive is introduced and an exit end from which the additive is discharged into the passage, such that the additive mixes with the incoming liquid stream; and a helical lifting auger mounted on a supporting drive shaft fixedly attached to the turbine, the auger rotatably disposed within the auger housing so as to produce a fluid flow through the auger housing, the lifting auger configured to accept the additive from the auger housing entrance end; and move the additive through the auger housing to t
Abstract: The present invention provides novel, polymeric supports, methods of making, and methods of using the supports, that have a fluorinated, amidated surface. The supports include polymeric microbeads, thin layers or membranes, plates, monoliths and the like. The supports are useful as packing materials for normal phase, reverse phase, and size exclusion chromatography, and provide high speed separation of analytes with excellent resolution.

Abstract: An elevated sailing apparatus that extracts traction power from the wind. It operates without the heeling moment (typical of conventional sailboats), which constrains the design and limits the power that can be used. A wing or sail is attached beneath a streamlined blimp with aerodynamic stabilizers that keep both the blimp and the wing (or sail) directed into the wind. The blimp is directed into the wind for minimum drag. The wing (or sail) is directed into the wind for a desired angle of attack. The apparatus is tilted so that a combination of dynamic lift and lateral propulsive force is generated in addition to the static lift generated by the blimp. A single tether transfers these aerodynamic forces to a boat or other vehicle. Conventional electronically operated automatic and remote control systems can be used to adjust the tilt and to tack the apparatus.
Abstract: An orthodontic anchor is disclosed. The orthodontic anchor has an anchor plate to be embedded between the mandible or maxilla bone and the covering mucous membrane and an engagement plate that remains exposed in the oral cavity. The anchor plate includes a protrusion and tissue openings. The protrusion is to be integrated with a bore prepared in the mandible or maxilla bone and the tissue openings are to be filled in with tissues to provide anchorage. The engagement plate includes engagement openings which are used to engage with a ligament device for correction of malocclusion.
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a semiconductor device testing apparatus, a semiconductor device testing system, and a semiconductor device testing method, in particular a method for measuring or trimming, respectively, the impedance of driver devices provided in a semiconductor device, wherein a device, in particular a driver device, comprising each a pull-up circuit and a pull-down circuit is used, and wherein the method includes: joint activating of both the pull-up circuit and the pull-down circuit; and determining a first current flowing through the pull-up circuit or the pull-down circuit, respectively, with jointly activated pull-up and pull-down circuits.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the kinetic analysis of tear interference is disclosed. The apparatus includes a light source for illuminating a tear film of a cornea, an optical train for modifying the light before it reaches the cornea and after it is the carrier of an image from the cornea, an image recorder to record a series of images of the illuminated tear film, and an image output for providing the series of images to a display; the series of images illustrating a tear film dispersion pattern indicative of a tear stability condition. The method includes the steps of illuminating the film on a cornea of said eye with light, recording a series of images of the illuminated film, and outputting the series of images to a display. The series of images illustrating at least one of a lipid film spread and a tear film dispersion pattern indicative of a tear stability condition.
Abstract: An arrangement of several resistors jointly positioned in one and the same well of a semiconductor device, as well as to a semiconductor device including at least one such arrangement of resistors, wherein the resistors, when viewed in a longitudinal direction of the resistors, are displaced in relation to one another.

Abstract: Electronic circuits based on molecular transistors, generally used in place of semiconductors. More particularly, the invention relates to a unique method of wiring of a three-terminal molecule (or an aggregate thereof) to serve as an electronic transistor, containing a gate electrode, a source electrode, and a drain electrode. The source electrode and drain electrode are fabricated from one metal and the gate electrode is fabricated from another metal. The usage of molecular properties in this context provides significant advantages over the fabrication methods of the prior art.
