Patent number: 6608397Abstract: A wind driven electrical power generating apparatus includes a rotor rotating by receiving wind force, a gear assembly having an input shaft connected to the rotor, a generator connected to an output shaft of the gear assembly, a sensor for detecting generating capacity of the generator and a controller for varying gear ratio of the gear assembly based on a signal from the sensor. In this construction, the controller controls so that the generator keeps rotating at around the lowest rotational speed within a range of rotational speed, the range being determined so as to include a maximum power operation region of the generator. Alternatively, the controller controls so that rotational speed of the output shaft of the gear assembly is adjusted to at around the lowest rotational speed within a range of rotational speed, the range being determined so as to include a rated power region as an upper operational limit.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2001Date of Patent: August 19, 2003Assignee: NTN CorporationInventors: Tomoaki Makino, Takashi Nozaki, Yutaka Tanigaki, Masuo Takaki

Patent number: 6602471Abstract: There are provided an adsorption amount sensor which is capable of accurately detecting an amount of hydrocarbons or water adsorbed by a zeolite of a hydrocarbon adsorber, even during operation of an engine, as well as a coking sensor which is capable of accurately detecting an amount of coke deposition on inner surfaces of a pipe of an internal combustion engine, even during operation of an engine. The adsorption amount sensor has a plurality of electrodes arranged in the vicinity of the hydrocarbon adsorber in a manner opposed to each other and each carrying a zeolite thereon. The amount of hydrocarbons adsorbed is detected by using a parameter indicative of changes in at least one of a resistance value between the electrodes and an electrical capacitance between the electrodes. The coking sensor has a plurality of electrodes arranged within the pipe of the engine in a manner opposed to each other and each having a surface thereof coated with an insulating material.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2000Date of Patent: August 5, 2003Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masahiro Sato, Yoshihisa Iwaki, Yuji Yasui, Takashi Haga, Masaki Ueno, Tetsuo Endo

Patent number: 6494354Abstract: A dowel driving machine arranged such that a single head is provided with a single shaft hole and a plurality of receiving holes, for individually receiving different kinds of dowels, arranged side by side in parallel, and that selection is made out of the different kinds of dowels of different diameters and lengths supplied from chutes to respective receiving holes. As a result, different kinds of dowels can be driven easily without requiring extra work of changing a setup in spite of reducing the size of the device.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1999Date of Patent: December 17, 2002Assignee: Yasaka Company LimitedInventors: Koichi Hotch, Takeo Matsushima

Patent number: 6433662Abstract: There is provided a solenoid actuator which is easy to carry out wiring work for coils thereof, and at the same time allows reduction of manufacturing costs through common application of a fixed wiring. A solenoid actuator is supplied with electric power from a power source, for generating an electromagnetic force to drive a driven member such that the driven member performs reciprocating motion. Two electromagnets each have a coil and arranged such that they are opposed to each other and spaced from each other. An armature is connected to the driven member, and arranged between the two electromagnets, for performing reciprocating motion in accordance with energization and deenergization of the two electromagnets to thereby drive the driven member such that the driven member performs the reciprocating motion.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2000Date of Patent: August 13, 2002Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kouichi Ikoma, Atsushi Umemoto, Minoru Torii

Patent number: 6317652Abstract: A legged mobile robot for accurately calculating the positional relationship between a leg and an obstacle to the walking of the robot has a base body and a plurality of legs operatively connected to the base body. A vision sensor mounted on the base body captures image data containing both an image of a portion of a foot of one of the legs and an image of an obstacle in the course of robot walking. The legged mobile robot calculates the positional relationship between the leg and the obstacle from the captured image data, and walks while recognizing the positional relationship as calculated between the obstacle and the foot.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1999Date of Patent: November 13, 2001Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Taku Osada
