  • Patent number: 6099675
Abstract: An adhesive tape is applied to an article covered with a resist pattern. The article with the adhesive tape applied thereto is rapidly cooled to form cracks in the resist pattern on the surface of the article to weaken the cohesion between the resist pattern and the surface of the article. After the cooling, the adhesive tape is separated from the article, whereby the resist pattern is removed with the adhesive tape from the surface of the article.

  • Patent number: 6073686
Abstract: A high efficiency modular OLF heat exchanger with heat transfer enhancement is disclosed. The OLF heat exchanger has an oblique louver fin provided with oblique strips. The oblique louver fin thus effectively forms transverse and longitudinal vortexes in a main gas flow while breaking the boundary layer of the gas flow, thus having an improved heat transferring effect. In the OLF heat exchanger, a plurality of flat tubes are assembled with two opposite header pipes, thus forming a module. The OLF heat exchanger is thus manufactured while easily permitting changes in its size and heat exchanging capacity by assembling a selected number of modules into a single body using a plurality of header pipe sockets. The oblique strips violently mix the gas flow and thereby further improve the heat transferring effect of the louver fin. The oblique louver fin thus has advantages expected from typical louver fins with swirlers and typical offset strip fins with swirlers.

  • Patent number: 6070862
Abstract: An outer sleeve and an inner sleeve are connected to each other by an elastomeric member. Main liquid chambers and subsidiary liquid chambers, circumferentially connected to the main liquid chambers, are defined between the elastomeric member and the outer sleeve and communicate with each other through orifices. When a large load is input in directions X and X', the volume of the main liquid chambers are decreased, thereby causing the liquid forced out of the main liquid chambers to flow through the orifices, so that a damping force is produced by a resistance, due to a liquid, generated during flowing of the liquid. When a load in directions Z and Z' is input by a load in the directions X and X', the volume of the subsidiary liquid chambers adjoining the main liquid chambers is decreased, thereby causing the liquid, forced out of the subsidiary liquid chambers, to flow through the orifices, thus producing a damping force.

  • Patent number: 6070617
Abstract: A liquid-transferring hose of single-carcass configuration, with a rubber tube layer, main pressure-resistant cord layer and cover rubber layer, in this order from the inside, wherein a transponder installed between the rubber tube layer and cover rubber layer transmits and receives waves of specific frequency, which are attenuated by at least -60 dB when passing through liquid to be transferred, and transmits a response signal on receiving the above waves. This design prevents the response signal transmitted by the transponder, when it is covered with leaked liquid, from being detected, to tell occurrence of liquid leakage, allowing liquid leakage to be easily detected during the initial stage.

  • Patent number: 6068330
Abstract: A lightweight metal automobile framework having a hollow, impact-absorbing member, wherein the impact-absorbing member absorbs any impact by axial plastic deformation and has inner ribs passing through a center axis thereof. The impact-absorbing member may also have an axial end face partially removed to lessen an area on which a load is imposed at an instant of impact, thereby raising the average stress of the impact and lowering peak deceleration. Also, automobile framework members forming a front-end portion of the automobile framework may be detachably coupled to the automobile framework.

  • Patent number: 6063112
Abstract: A treatment kit having an intraluminal prosthesis that treats an intracorporeal lumen. The kit includes, in addition to the expandable prosthesis, a catheter that is introduced inside the lumen. A radially expanding device and an envelope surround the prosthesis when the prosthesis is in a contracted configuration. Two extremities of the envelope are attached to form a single unit with the catheter. The envelope incorporates a flexible sheath that can form a compressed configuration and an extended configuration. The sheath comes into external contact with an internal wall of the intracorporal lumen and detaches itself from the remainder of the envelope.

  • Patent number: 6057484
Abstract: There are disclosed a composition containing 9-cis .beta.-carotene in high-purity and an industrially applicable method of obtaining the same from an alga. The composition can be obtained through steps of washing with ethanol dry powder of the alga belonging to Dunaliella, adding hexane to the washed algal powder, stirring the same, subjecting the same to filtration to obtain a filtrate, concentrating the filtrate to obtain a semi-solidic concentrate, adding hexane to the semi-solidic concentrate in an amount of 10-18 ml of hexane to 1 g of the semi-solidic concentrate, stirring the same, subjecting the same to filtration to obtain a filtrate, concentrating the filtrate to obtain an oily concentrate, adding hexane to the oily concentrate in an amount of 2-4.5 ml of hexane to 1 g of the oily concentrate to dissolve the same, and leaving the solution, as it is, under lower temperature condition to cause a separation of the composition. The composition is a rubiginous powder or crystals and contains 9-cis .beta.

  • Patent number: 6053936
Abstract: A portable light treatment device is capable of delivering the illumination which is sufficient in amount but mild to the subject's eyes for assuring effective light treatment without unduly annoying the subject. The device has a surface illuminating unit having an effective surface region of at least 15 cm.sup.2 which emits a visible diffused light of reduced luminance variation. The light is selected to give an illuminance of at least 2000 LUX measured at an eye position of the subject. A mount member is provided to mount the surface illuminating unit to a portion adjacent to eyes of the subject to direct the diffused light to the eyes of the subject. Thus arranged portable illumination device has an advantage of delivering sufficient amount of the light to the subject's eyes without dazzling the subject and therefore administering effective treatment without imposing severe restrictions to the subject's daily activities.
