  • Patent number: 8267958
Abstract: The invention relates to a surgical instrument comprising an instrument handle linked to a proximal end portion of a tube shaft to the distal end portion of which an instrument head is linked so as to be bendable, in which instrument head an effector including at least one pivotal engaging element is rotatably supported. The instrument handle has a number of manipulators and/or operating mechanisms for operating the instrument head and/or the effector via gear trains. According to the invention, a clutch which permits a zero point adjustment individual at least over a predetermined pivoting range of the instrument handle is interposed in the gear train effecting the bending motion of the instrument head. The zero point is defined as a relative position of the instrument handle with respect to the tube shaft in which the instrument head adopts a predetermined bending position with respect to the tube shaft.

  • Patent number: 8271180
Abstract: An intake control system for an internal combustion engine, which is capable of suppressing a change in an intake pressure caused by a change in a target intake air amount even in a transient operating condition in which the target intake air amount is varied, thereby making it possible to control the intake pressure stably and accurately. The intake control system controls an intake air amount by an intake valve lift, and controls intake negative pressure by a throttle valve. The system limits a target intake air amount based on upper and lower limit values set according to the intake valve lift and an intake cam phase, and corrects the target intake air amount by averaging the same using averaging calculation such that the change therein is delayed. A throttle valve opening is set according to the corrected target intake air amount.

  • Patent number: 8269378
Abstract: The invention consists on a linear switched reluctance electrical machine that may be operated indistinctly as a generator or a motor, with a series of characteristics that allow the optimization of the mass to power ratio, as well as the manufacturing cost. The machine has several air gaps, crossed by a single magnetic flux, in which the magnetic force is obtained. This flux is fed by a set of coils (6) placed in the active parts, these active parts are two yokes (4) and (5) in which the magnetic flux closes, there might be other active parts in the mentioned magnetic circuit through which the magnetic flux does not close. A set of passive elements, normally the translators (1) and (2), produce, while moving relatively to the active part, a variation of the reluctance of the circuit with respect to the position which causes a magnetic force.
