  • Patent number: 5133126
Abstract: A method of producing an aluminum tube covered by a layer of zinc using a continuous cold forming machine which includes the steps of: providing an extrusion die having a heating device and an inert gas-blowing tube to the cold forming machine, introducing an aluminum prime wire to the cold forming machine, extruding the prime wire through the extrusion die to form an aluminum tube while heating the die to a high temperature and blowing an inert gas across the die toward the tube to provide a high-temperature, non-oxidized aluminum tube, and flame spraying zinc powder onto the outer non-oxidized surface of the tube to cover the surface and provide an anticorrosive layer of zinc on the aluminum tube.

  • Patent number: 5112136
Abstract: A method and apparatus measures thermal conductivity of a material effected by measuring a change in the temperature of the material in contact with a heat source maintained at a predetermined temperature. A temperature change characteristic is obtained from the result of the temperature measurement, and the thermal conductivity is obtained by comparison of the temperature change characteristic and unsteady heat transfer characteristics of solid bodies previously determined in consideration of the heat transfer resistance of the interfaces. The present invention is suitable for the measurement of extensive materials, metallic materials to heat insulating materials, specifically suitable for the measurement of materials of high thermal conductivity and heterogeneous or anisotropic and is capable of accurately measuring the thermal conductivity without any special consideration on the interface heat transfer resistance at the measurement stage.

  • Patent number: 5102226
Abstract: An optical object profile measurement system utilizes a light beam to scan an object surface and a position detector which receives a light beam reflected from the object surface to obtain position data of individual scanned points on the object surface. The position data is processed to determine a profile of the object profile along the scanned points. The position detector comprises a number of light receiving elements arranged in at least two linear arrays each extending in the direction of following the light beam moving across the object surface and is divided into subdivisions having one or more of the light receiving elements. The arrays are disposed side-by-side to receive the light beam. In a first one of the arrays, the light receiving elements are designated by first values which have differing subdivisions such that the elements designated by the same first value are coupled to provide a single first output when any one of such elements detects the light beam.

  • Patent number: 5033878
Abstract: A cage has a pair of annular bodies and a plurality of columns provided at equal spacings to couple the annular bodies together to receive spherical rollers therebetween. The columns have side faces each having both axial end portions thereof formed by a composite surface having a flat surface provided outside the pitch circle of the spherical rollers and a conical surface provided inside the pitch circle. Each flat surface is inclined with respect to a plane including the axis of each spherical roller and the axis of the cage so as to come into point-to-point contact with the outer periphery of the respective spherical roller while the bearing is rotating. Each flat surface intersects each plane including the abovementioned axes along a line intersecting the axis of each spherical roller at a right angle.

  • Patent number: 4974873
Abstract: In an air bag module mounted on a steering wheel in an automobile for use, an inflater is connected to a power source through an actuating circuit to rapidly supply a high pressure gas into an air bag of the module when a dceleration of a vehicle body higher than a predetermined value is sensed, and interrupting means is provided for the purpose of preventing the malfunction of the module. The interrupting means automatically interrupts the actuating circuit in concurrence with removal of the air bag module from the steering wheel.

  • Patent number: 4970161
Abstract: A DNA sequence on which a chromosomal DNA sequence coding for human interferon-.gamma. (HuIFN-.gamma.) and having a TATA box is ligated to a sequence of a promoter. Cell cultures transformed with said DNA revealed a higher expression of HuIFN- than cell cultures transformed with a DNA which does not have such TATA box. When transformed with said DNA, cell cultures produced HuIFN-.gamma. in a serum free medium. Transformed cell cultures derived from blood cells of HuIFN-.gamma. resistant human cell-line also could produce HuIFN-.gamma..

  • Patent number: 4871174
Abstract: In a golf club for putting, the head of the club comprises a face plate having a hitting surface extending between opposite toe and heel sides of the head and a back surface extending substantially in parallel to the hitting surface. A pair of spaced rod-like bodies are fixed to the back surface of the face plate at the toe and heel sides of the head, respectively, and extend backward and in a direction perpendicular to the hitting surface of the face plate. A shaft-mounting body, for mounting the shaft thereon, is fixedly disposed between the rod-like bodies. A hosel member is attached to the top surface of said shaft-mounting body substantially at a center of the head, the hosel member extends upwardly from the shaft-mounting body to a position near a plane containing the face plate and is connected to the shaft at that position.
